You should be familiar with Hoopa from the Mega Dimensions story. It first appeared in Pokémon X and Y. Although Ansha won’t be parting with her Hoopa any time soon, you can still get one in Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

Where to find Hoopa¶

Like the other Legendary and Mythical Pokémon, you must complete the postgame DLC mission “The Greatest Gift”, where you catch Rayquaza. In addition, you must complete Main Mission 39, The Infinite Z-A Royale, which requires completing 15 reward matches.

Once you’ve met those criteria, head to Hotel Z and you’ll find Urbain/Taunie standing in front of Ansha’s donut stall. Speak to him/her to receive the Prison Bottle and Side Mission 196 “The Djinn Unbound”.

A 5-star Hyperspace portal will appear south-west from Wild Zone 16, inside an isolated part of Bleu Sector 8. There’s a holovator at the south side of Bleu Sector 8 that you can use to get on the rooftops.

Versus Hoopa Unbound

Use a 5-star donut to enter the portal. Inside, you will have to battle a Level 200 Hoopa in its Unbound form. In this form, it’s a Psychic and Dark type instead of Psychic and Ghost. Bug type moves would be ideal here, to deal 4x damage.

Triumph against the Hoopa and it’ll join you in its Confined form. Afterwards, you can use the Prison Bottle from your key items to switch between its Confined and Unbound forms. Don’t worry, it’s totally safe… probably.
