Pokemon ZA has arrived, and it brings a new feature to the game called Battle Zones. This feature is an event that takes place in the wider world and only happens at night. When night falls, you’ll be alerted that parts of the map will turn into hostile territory. Entering a Battle Zone lets you battle for prize money, but it comes with risks. Here’s everything you need to know about Battle Zones in Pokemon ZA.

How Battlezones Work

Battle Zones have a few key mechanics you need to know:

  • They only appear at night
  • You collect medals that serve as your points
  • There are item collectibles to find as you walk around
  • Pokemon trainers are scattered around who will battle you if you get too close or get spotted

Battle Zones appear in random areas around the map each night, so they can show up in different locations. When you approach one, you’ll see a big red line around the area. You can enter it if you want to participate.

When you enter a Battle Zone, there are a few things to keep in mind. You’ll need to partake in these battle zones to progress the main quest for your trainer ranking progressions. Once you get experience, you can then take on the master to get your trainer rank promotion battle. Though, you an visit Battle Zones at any time you want to.

You’ll collect prize medals by doing various activities like completing challenges, picking up items, and beating trainers. When you finish an event, your total prize medals get multiplied by 10. So if you collect 200 tokens, you’ll earn 2,000 money at the end of the event.

To get those tokens and trainer exp, you need to move carefully through the Battle Zone. Look for trainers you can fight. If you get close to a trainer, a yellow attention marker will appear at the top center of your screen. If it turns red, you’ll enter battle with that trainer. You can sneak around or use your movement roll to get out of range and hide if needed.

Another important feature is the Battle Cards that spawn around the area. These cards give you different objectives to complete in the Battle Zone, such as:

  • Use a super effective move against a Pokemon
  • Use different move types against an enemy
  • Sneak up and ambush a trainer
  • Faint a Pokemon in one move

The cards are spread around the Battle Zone and offer random challenges. You’ll need to explore, sneak around trainers, and check different cards to find one that works well with your Pokemon party.

Battle Zone Rewards

To complete a Battle Zone successfully, you want to beat trainers and collect prize medals.
The money you earn is calculated by multiplying your prize medals by 10, then multiplying again based on how many trainers you defeat. The multiplier is usually between 1x and 2x. For example, beating 7 trainers gives you a 1.5x multiplier on your prize money.
Here’s an example:

  • You collect 400 tokens
  • You beat 7 trainers
  • 400 tokens × 10 = 4,000 prize money
  • 4,000 × 1.5 multiplier = 6,000 total money earned
As you can see, Battle Zones are a great way to earn money by playing at night.

However, there is some risk involved. If all your Pokemon faint, you’ll exit the Battle Zone. You can re-enter, but it will cost you half of your prize medals. That’s why we recommend sneaking around and picking off trainers carefully to get the advantage in fights.

There are other rewards too. Exploring the Battle Zone lets you find items scattered around the area. These can include prize medal pickups, Pokeballs, and consumable items like Potions. It’s definitely worth taking your time to explore and collect all the rewards the Battle Zone has to offer.
