As you explore Lumiose City., you will find a variety of overworld obstacles. These obstacles range from branches, rock and even purple slime type rocks. If you can destroy them, then they often reveal new routes to explore, rewards to gather, or other missable areas. Each one has their own counters to break them down and the purple slime is especially weak to water moves. Here’s a look at how to break purple slime rocks in Pokemon Legends ZA.

How to break Purple Slimes

To break purple slimes, you will to target the slimes using ZL Joy-Con-ZL while using a water type Pokémon or at least a water type move. In the early game, you only really have access to the move Water Gun. Thankfully, there’s a few water type Pokémon knocking around the early leveling wild zones. These are as follows:

Pokémon Offensive Water Moves Wild Zone
Staryu Water-type moves Wild Zone 2
Magikarp Water-type moves (learns upon evolution to Gyarados) Wild Zone 2, Wild Zone 6
Binacle Water-type moves Wild Zone 2, Wild Zone 6
Totodile Water-type moves Starter Pokémon option.

For the most part, you’re probably going to want to grab a Staryu for this. It’s very common in the Wild Zone 2 area and has access to water gun as its main damage tool. Binacles can also use Water Gun, along with other water moves. This is especially so if you manage to get a level 18 one from the Wild Zone 6. You can find on on Wild Zone 2, but they seem more rare.

Just straight up avoid Magikarp as its splash isn’t great. In previous games, you can often give a Buneary water type moves like Surf, but we have not tested that out yet. It’s an option to try if you’re at that point.

Of course, there’s plenty of other water type Pokémon in the game. But, they come much later on from other Water zones. So, stick to the Barnacle and Staryu like Pokémon as they are the easiest to remove the purple slime rock things.

Now you have your water Pokémon of choice, you can easily get rid of the purple slimes. There are plenty in Wild Zone 5 if you’re interested in exploring a bit for optional rewards and pathways around the map.
