"Camerupt" iconCamerupt is one of the Rogue Mega Pokemon you’ll face in Pokemon Legends ZA during Main Mission 12. This Fire and Ground-type Pokemon can be challenging if you don’t bring the right counters, so here’s a closer look at Camerupt’s weaknesses and the best Pokemon to use against it.

Here’s how to beat Rogue Mega Camerupt by its Weaknesses. Image via Gamer Guides / Nintendo.

Mega Camerupt’s Weaknesses

Camerupt is a Fire and Ground-type Pokemon. Its biggest weaknesses are

  • Water at x4 damage
  • Ground at x2 damage

The best possible Pokemon types to use are Water. We recommend in the early game running

  1. "Binacle" iconBinacle
  2. "Totodile" iconTotodile
  3. "Blastoise" iconBlastoise
  4. Mega "Absol" iconAbsol

Binacle is probably the best for those who didn’t take Totodile as their starter. Binacle has both a mix of Rock and Ground attacks, alongside water moves. Particularly, we feel you should use the moves:

You can also teach it "Dig" iconDig and "Mud Shot" iconMud Shot if you have the TMs for it, which are also nice, but from level 18, these moves should be available to you. You should know Mud Shot already if you’ve been doing early research tasks for Mabel. Map Marker

Location: If you need a good Binacle, there are several in Wild Zone 6, along with an Alpha version that has a 100% spawn rate, which you can try to catch.

Alternatively, if you took Totodile as your starter, then this Pokemon works well. It is a Water type, but it can learn Dig early on via the TM, which is provided by an NPC near the Hotel Richissime in the northeastern tip of the map. Map Marker

You may also get Blastoise from a "Squirtle" iconSquirtle from Mabe if you visit her research center. It’s an option but not a big deal.

Then, for when the boss is stunned, use Mega Absol. It’s Dark move does 2x damage, which you can spam along with its normal moves to nuke the boss’ health bar when you have your mega bar ready. It will be how you kill it, but the other water type pokemon will help out whittling its health bar down while you build your mega bar back up.

With this core comp, you should have enough Special Defense lowering abilities to counter Mega Camerumpt’s SPDef bonuses, and then use super effective moves against it using either Totodile and its evolution or, Binacle. Carry some spare non grass or steel pokemon on you and you should be fine countering Mega Camerupt’s Weaknesses just fine.
