This is a guide for Main Mission 41 "The One That Takes" iconThe One That Takes in Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

How to Start

You need to complete 1 reward match

Then you’ll receive this mission back at Hotel Z

To receive Main Mission 41 you must complete the main story (reach the credits roll) and then complete 1 reward match of the Infinite Z-A Royale.

After the reward match, you’ll receive a phone call from Lida, urging you back to Hotel Z. There, you’ll meet L who gives you two new main missions–this one and Main Mission 40.

Objective

Head over to Nouveau Café and speak to Grisham. You’ll be invited to Quasartico Inc. There, Vinnie will let you challenge 3 Rogue Megas in a simulation.

The megas you’ll face are ones you’ve fought before: "Victreebel" iconVictreebel, "Hawlucha" iconHawlucha and "Tyranitar" iconTyranitar. However, they’re all higher level, at Level 70. Also, you won’t have any NPCs to assist you.

Rogue Mega Victreebel

As a reminder, Mega Victreebel is Grass and Poison. Fire and Flying types are great for dealing super-effective damage and resisting Victreebel’s Grass type moves.

The main thing to watch out for is the poison puddles on the ground. These inflict substantial damage when your Pokémon walk through them. However, they disappear after a while. We recommend recalling your Pokémon (Down on the D-pad) until they’re gone.

Rogue Mega Hawlucha

Mega Hawlucha is a Fighting and Flying type. "Psychic" iconPsychic, Flying and Fairy types work well for this fight.

Beware when Mega Hawlucha begins charging up. Rather than running away, you want to pile on your attacks so you can interrupt and stun Mega Hawlucha.

If you’re struggling, you may want to equip your Pokémon with more attacking moves (rather than status moves). For example, we had an easier time when our "Ampharos" iconAmpharos had both "Thunderbolt" iconThunderbolt and "Thunder" iconThunder, even though they’re usually redundant when used together.

Rogue Mega Tyranitar

Finally, Mega Tyranitar is a Rock and Dark type. Fighting types work best, since they deal 4x damage. Ensuring for a speedy victory.

Watch out for when Mega Tyranitar charges up. It’ll unleash a series of "Stone Edge" iconStone Edges towards your trainer, so get ready to dodge. You may also want to recall your Pokémon beforehand, since they’re crap at dodging.

At the halfway mark, Mega Tyranitar will unleash a more complicated version of Stone Edge. But if you keep calm, you should be able to dodge. Definitely call back your Pokémon as soon as it begins charging up.

Afterwards, it’ll surround itself in a sand veil. Unless you don’t mind burning potions, you may want to wait this out. Once a minute or so has passed, the sand will disappear. So you can safely continue punching the rogue mega.

Once you’ve defeated the three rogue megas, you’ll be told that "Yveltal" iconYveltal will appear at Galerie de la Lune. Fast-travel (or travel normally) to Restaurant Le Wow, then use the nearby scaffolding to climb up.

How to Catch Yveltal

They make Yveltal sound so scary

But it’s known more for its bulk than its offensive prowess

Map Marker

The cover legendary of Pokémon Y, Yveltal is a Dark and Flying type. This one is Level 75. It can use Oblivion Wing to deal Flying type damage and siphon HP, "Hurricane" iconHurricane, Psychic and "Dark Pulse" iconDark Pulse.

Although Yveltal looks scary, its moves don’t hit hard, especially if you bring in a special tank like "Sylveon" iconSylveon. "Light Screen" iconLight Screen can also help.

As Griselle reminded you, your mission is to capture Yveltal. If you fail, you can try again, so there’s no threat. Besides that, Yveltal has a fairly high catch rate. So you shouldn’t struggle much if you can lower its HP to the red.
