"Slowbro" iconSlowbro is one of the Water/"Psychic" iconPsychic-type Pokemon available in Pokemon Legends ZA. It evolves from "Slowpoke" iconSlowpoke at level 37. Slowbro is a fan-favorite defensive Pokemon from the first generation, offering players a tanky special attacker with great bulk for their party. With Pokemon Legends ZA focused on Mega Evolutions, Slowbro gets access to its Mega form. If you’re in the market for Mega Slowbro, then here is a closer look at how to defeat the Rogue Mega Slowbro boss, its weaknesses, and stats.

Rogue Mega Slowbro Weaknesses

Before you can get a Mega Slowbro yourself, you will need the "Slowbronite" iconSlowbronite. To unlock the Slowbronite Mega Stone, you’ll need to defeat the Rogue Mega Slowbro during Main Mission 11: "A Rogue Mega Slowbro" iconA Rogue Mega Slowbro. The Rogue Mega Slowbro is at level 34, so make sure your team is around the same level before attempting this fight.

Mega Slowbro is a Water/Psychic type, which gives it weaknesses to:

  • Bug
  • Ghost
  • Grass
  • Electric
  • Dark-type attacks at 2x damage effectiveness.

The best counter for this fight is Mega "Absol" iconAbsol, which everyone should have thanks to grabbing both Absol and "Absolite" iconAbsolite during Main Mission 9. Since Absol is a Dark-type, it deals super effective damage to Mega Slowbro and is also resistant to Psychic-type moves. You can consider using "Bulbasaur" iconBulbasaur or Chikorita if you managed the Kanto starters from Mabel, or the base starter if you got it. Especially since you will have a Mega Stone for "Chikorita" iconChikorita, which may likely be "Meganium" iconMeganium by this point.

For the fight, use Absol’s moveset of Slash, "Swords Dance" iconSwords Dance, "Night Slash" iconNight Slash, and Quick Attack. Start the battle by using Swords Dance to boost your Attack stat, then alternate between "Shadow Claw" iconShadow Claw and Night Slash for massive super effective damage. These Dark-type moves will tear through Mega Slowbro’s defenses quickly, especially when in Mega mode. Outside of that, use a general counter to chip away at Rogue Mega Slowbro, switch to Absol or Meganium Mega and nuke Slowbro down.

Mega Slowbro’s Stats and Movesets if you want to use it in your party

When you defeat the Rogue Mega Slowbro, you’ll receive the Slowbronite Mega Stone as a reward. You can then use this to Mega Evolve your own Slowbro during battles. Mega Slowbro keeps its Water/Psychic typing, maintaining the same weaknesses against Bug, Ghost, Grass, Electric, and Dark types.

However, Mega Slowbro gets absolutely massive stat boosts. Its Defense jumps to an incredible 180, making it very sturdy as a defensive Pokemon. Its Special Attack also gets boosted to 130, giving it serious offensive power alongside that defensive wall if you opt for those elemental type moves. The trade-off is that its Speed drops to a crawling 30, making Mega Slowbro one of the slowest Pokemon around.

Mega Slowbro learns some excellent moves naturally as Slowbro levels up. You get "Surf" iconSurf at level 30 for reliable Water-type damage, Slack Off at level 33 for recovering HP, and Psychic at level 36 for strong Psychic-type attacks. These core moves give Mega Slowbro everything it needs to be effective.

For TMs, Mega Slowbro can grab some interesting picks that make it even more versatile. "Ice Beam" iconIce Beam and "Flamethrower" iconFlamethrower give it coverage against Grass and Steel types. "Calm Mind" iconCalm Mind is excellent for boosting its already strong Special Attack and Special Defense even higher. Scald is a fantastic alternative to Surf since it has a chance to burn opponents, crippling physical attackers. "Shadow Ball" iconShadow Ball provides coverage against Ghost and Psychic types while lowering Special Defense, while "Focus Blast" iconFocus Blast handles Dark types that threaten Mega Slowbro.

So, you’ll have something well-rounded if you need a safe front liner to start off with in your major trainer or boss battles. From there, Mega Evolve it, or swap it out for something else in your party if you want to use Mega Slowbro in your party comp.
