How to Beat Jacinthe: Best Counters & Strategy
The One That Takes
This is a guide for Main Mission 40
The One That Gives in Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
How to Start¶
You need to complete 1 reward match
After that, you’ll get an urgent phone call from Lida
To receive Main Mission 40, you must first complete the main story (reach the credits roll) and then complete 1 reward match of the Infinite Z-A Royale.
After that, you’ll receive a phone call from Lida, telling you to head back to Hotel Z. Once there, you’ll meet L who gives you two new main missions–this one and Main Mission 41.
Objective¶
Make your way to 3F of the Pokémon Research Lab and speak to Mable. She’ll give you a new research task, to deal with 3 anomalous alphas in three wild zones.
Alpha Steelix
In Wild Zone 3, there’s a Level 70 alpha
Steelix near the center. It’s a sturdy Steel and Ground type.
This Steelix can use
Stone Edge,
Dig,
Earthquake and Double Edge. Special attackers would be great to deplete Steelix’s HP, but tanky Pokémon that don’t fold like paper would also be useful.
Your task is to simply get rid of the alphas. So you can either KO or catch the Steelix.
Alpha Gallade
At Wild Zone 5, there’s a Level 70
Gallade at the west park. It’s a powerful
Psychic and Fighting type.
This Gallade is equipped with
Swords Dance, Psycho Cut, Leaf Blade and Stone Edge. Pokémon with high Defense are highly recommended. You could also use
Reflect.
Likewise, you can KO or catch the Gallade. Unlike Steelix, you can find wild Gallade elsewhere, in Wild Zone 20, although they’re somewhat rare. Or you can evolve one. So you don’t need to stress about catching it.
Alpha Pangoro
Finally, there’s a Level 70
Pangoro atop a roof at the south-west corner of Wild Zone 9. It’s a Fighting/Dark powerhouse.
This Pangoro can use Focus Energy,
Poison Jab,
Outrage and it didn’t survive long enough to use its 4th move.
Like Gallade, wild Pangoro can be found in Wild Zone 20, although they’re somewhat rare. Or you can evolve one. So you don’t need to worry too much about catching it.
Once you’ve dealt with all three alphas, return to Mable at her lab. You’ll then be told to visit Wild Zone 11. On the north side, there’s a spot where you can wait for
Xerneas to appear.
How to Catch Xerneas¶
Xerneas in all its glory
Geomancy is the one to watch out for
The cover legendary of Pokémon X, Xerneas is a pure Fairy type. This one is Level 75. It can use Geomancy to boost its Sp. Atk, Spd. Def and Speed, then hit hard with Moonblast. It can also use Horn Leech and Megahorn, which aren’t as dangerous.
A Steel or Poison type would be great here, to resist the Geomancy-boosted Moonblast. While also resisting the other two moves.
Your task is to capture Xerneas. If you knock it out and fail to catch it, you’ll get another chance. However, Xerneas has a fairly high catch rate, so it shouldn’t take too much effort to catch it.
