Tips for getting the Shiny Charm
One of the mechanics in Pokemon Legends ZA is the weather on the map. The weather has an effect on the game, with the likes of nighttime revealing more Ghost-type Pokemon, as does rainy conditions. The rain in this game is unpredictable, with it happening at random. This is, of course, a problem, as there are plenty of things that require the game to rain. So, here are some tips for making it rain in Pokemon Legends ZA.

How to Make It Rain¶
As it stands, there’s no direct control over making it rain or changing to other weather types. However, there are some tricks you can use:
- Changing the time of day at a bench
- Checking the horizon to see what weather is on the way
- Checking the map for the weather icon
- 1 Hour playtime
Firstly, changing the time of day will allow the game to regenerate the world from day to night and back again. This tends to also come with new weather too. So, it’s possible to load the game with rain on the way.
Also, you can check what is on the way via the sky. Look at the way the weather is moving to get an idea if there will be darker rain clouds, regular normal clouds, sunny spells, or other weather effects rolling in. You can often see this best during the day-night battle zone transition. But there are a few decent vantage points like the Tower in Wild Zone 3 that make it easier to see the distant weather conditions rolling in.
The last point we mention is the one hour playtime. It feels like it can rain once an hour per play session. It seems to cycle between other weather patterns before dropping in. If you prefer to play more organically, keep that in mind as and when you notice the world lighting shift to get an idea of when rain fall is due.
When it does rain, make sure to act fast. The game tends to only rain for about 5 minutes or so, based on our recordings. The actual length may differ depending on how much time you spent paused, in menus etc. Either way, act fast to get what you need to done while it is raining.
Why You Need It to Rain¶
There are a few things to monitor while making it rain. The reasons are as follows:
- You can only catch
Goomy while it is raining - You can only evolve
Sliggoo while it is raining - You need to complete the side quest,
Let It Rain, Let It Pour
So, there’s a lot of waiting and skyline mentoring you’re going to need to do if you want to do any of these challenges.
