Learning what weaknesses are in Pokémon games are a key part of the game. You’ll want to use a lot of the different moves to counter a lot of the Pokémon you will come up against to make beating trainers and bosses easier to beat. So, here’s a look at weaknesses in Pokémon ZA and what to expect.

Pokemon ZA Effectiveness Tips

We know that Electric type chart makes them effective against Flying, and you can see that effectiveness in the moveset icons in the bottom right. Image via Gamer Guides / Nintendo.

You can also find the ineffectiveness icons in the movesets of your Pokémon if the type is weak against the opponent. Image via Gamer Guides / Nintendo.

Interestingly, the game is offering some better UI markers for what moves counter which Pokémon. This can help you stuffy what moves to use and when to use them in the battles themselves. With several Pokémon having different move types, you can easily find out what moves in the game can be strong or weak against the Pokémon you’re targeting.

When in a battle, check the icons baked into your Pokémon moves. These symbols give you indicators to what is okay, what is super effective and what is ineffective in battle. The symbols are as follows:

  • Two Circles - Super effective
  • Circle - No weakness or resistance
  • Triangle - Not Very Effective
  • X - Not Effective or no effect
  • No icon - Means it’s a buff or debuff and is not affected by the strengths or weaknesses of the Pokémon type chart.

See the image gallery above for examples of super effective, normal and super ineffective moves on the screen.

If you’re not too familiar with the type chart in Pokémon games, then these icons will help you learn quite a bit about what moves work best.

Pokemon ZA Type Chart

Going into Pokémon ZA, not much is changing with the type charts. You’ll find the strengths and weaknesses are relatively the same. So, figure out what you’re going against and check what Pokémon types beat other Pokémon types in the game.

Use this information as background planning on what Pokémon is effective against other Pokémon in the game. This will help explain why the moves in the games above counter. See the electric and normal attacks as reference to why the images are the way they are in the section above.
