While you explore the Verdant Wilds, you will find various side quests, main missions, and other tidbits for your exploration completion. One of these is an NPC mission called A Toast to Heroes. This is a somewhat difficult side quest type mission to track, with various hidden items scattered around the ruined fort. Here’s a quick walkthrough for completing A Toast to Heroes in Where Winds Meet.

A Toast to Heroes Walkthrough¶
To track this quest for your explorations, you can start it at the Battlecrest Slope mini region of the Verdant Wilds location. Go south from the ruined fort into the small village along the main road. You should find an old man you can speak to.
He will let on that he lost some items from the caravan. To retrieve it, do the following:
- Head down the slope to where the four snakes are hiding in the grass. You should see them on the minimap nearby.
- Kill the snakes
Note the snakes can be kited, so you can kill them one by one. You can also crit them with a Fire Arrow too to start combat somewhat closer.

Where the snakes guard is the item you need to pick up and return to the old man.
Once you give him the item back, he will want some wine. Make your way to the shrine at the front of the ruin to talk to him.

The old man will want two small barrels of wine for the troubles. You need to watch for two very small red flask-like objects on the corner of some supply wagons. The locations for these two are as follows:
- There’s a small bandit camp to the right of the main entrance to the fort (where you start the Volume 1 side quest). Go to the edge of the wall to find the small bandit camp by the outer ruin walls.
- Go towards the river from the fort. There will be another bandit caravan spot by the road adjacent to the river. It will have a few guards around it. Check the edge of the large cart for the small red flask to get the wine.
When you have the two wine flasks from the images above, return to the old man. Hand them over, and you’ll complete the Wandering Tale mission.
Doing the 3x combo with Leaping Toad kills the first four snakes dead, then you can just loot the bag in peace.
