What is Affinity¶
The Affinity stat is summarized as follows:
| Stat name | Description |
|---|---|
| Affinity Rate | Chance to strike a target with Affinity. Affinity attacks deal an additional 20% damage and are determined by your Max Attack. Affinity is unaffected by Precision. |
| Direct Affinity Rate | Increases Affinity Rate up to a maximum of an additional 10% |
| Affinity Damage Bonus | Increases the damage bonus of Affinity attacks |
| Momentum | Increases Affinity Rate and Max Physical Attack |
| Hawking Set | 2 piece grants Affinity Rate, 4 Piece grants Physical attack increases when affinity triggers. |
In general, Affinity Rate is a stat that affects how reliably you can land extra attacks with your normal hits. This is essentially a double strike damage feature, procing bonus damage as a percentage of the damage you dealt with the attack that triggers affinity. This is a fairly important stat, as Affinity can also critically hit too, and affinity hits interact with your weapon.
The Strategic Sword is one of the main weapons that use affinity builds, thanks to several skill passives. The Adaptive Steel skill likes Affinity because you get a 10% chance to apply a bleed when dealing affinity damage. This makes it very easy to start stacking bleeds on bosses, and making your rotation feel smoother to play and get your burst benefits. Combo it with Fivefold Bleed skill and it makes stacking so much easier. There’s also Insightful Strike too, which grants Focus, and when it caps, you get Concentration state, granting more affinity damage and chance to reduce damage taken, which is again very nice to have.
It is also handy for the Nameless Sword, since it benefits a lot from the Momentum stat for raw physical increase and some affinity. Its Morph legendary skill grants extra attacks, so having Affinity when that can trigger means a lot of burst and affinity damage, especially with Momentum buffing it. It also likes the Jadewire set bonuses too, which also buff Affinity Damage.
So, consider investing in this stat increase if you’re running either the Strategic Sword or Nameless Sword weapon builds. It makes it strong for both those builds, but more so the Strategic Sword.
