How to Get and Use Flaming Meteor

The Flaming Meteor in Where Winds Meet is one of the skills that players can pick up by optional content in the game. This is a fairly unique skill, as it allows you to mount up, and rain down fiery sword attacks and aerial hits too, making it one of the more visually fun skills to have on your mystic bars. Here’s a closer look at how to get and use Flaming Meteor in Where Winds Meet.

Flaming Meteor makes you jump high into the sky and crash down a flaming meteor on your target. How cool is that? Image via Gamer Guides / NetEase.

How to Get Flaming Meteor in Where Winds Meet

To get the Flaming Meteor skill, you will need to start the Bodhi Sea campaign in Qinghe. You can find it in the Sundara Land region, located towards the northern central part of the map slightly to the west of the top area.

When you start the campaign, work through the questline as normal, and then you will unlock the boss arena for it.

Now, when you get to fight the boss, you need to focus on deflecting the red moves the boss does with the perfect parry move. Every time you successfully do this, you will gain comprehension to the Flaming Meteor skill, similar to how you get comprehension to moves like Lion’s Roar for example.

It takes about ten deflects to unlock the Flaming Meteor skill. If you fail to do it in a single encounter, you will need to spend your energy to repeat fight the boss like you would do if you were farming that boss for gear and rewards anyway.

How to Use Flaming Meteor in Where Winds Meet

This skill is very nice for a mobility and defensive option, with some offense tied into it. The core move itself does the following:

Charge ahead, stomping the earth to leap into the air. Form a blazing spear and hurl it at your target, causing an AoE explosion. Then crash down like a meteor for additional damage. Grants 15% Damage Reduction and Super Armor during the skill.

When the skill says charge ahead, it summons a black horse for you to ride on too. So, you get a lot of movement from it, an airborne attack and crash down AoE skill. It makes it very good for avoiding awkward boss patterns, kiting and even doing big burst to single target and AoE packs.

It gets interesting too when you upgrade that skill:

Tier Description
Tier 2 Recovers 3 vitality for each unit hit (up to 3) with the long spear part of the spell.
Tier 3 Increases the final damage by 10% for every unit (up to 5) in the landing area.
Tier 4 DMG reduction when casting skills is increased up to 40%

These upgrades are very strong indeed. The Vitality recovery is pretty good for a tank player, since things like Golden Body can be expensive to get to. You may consider using this easily to group enemies up, and get the multi hits you want to get max Vitality back. In addition with a tank player easily grouping mobs close together, it means it’s easy to get the increased damage on the final hit of the meteor too, making it easier to use with a Mo Blade or Spear taunt pull.

In terms of decent places to use this, your standard Breakthrough levels or Museum battles are good choices. The Puppeteer World Bosses also spring to mind with the clones the bosses spawn in that can harass you. All in all this feels like a very decent tool to use in PvE boss encounters, massive multi-threat fights, and even in those larger scale arena battles that will come out.
