For the most part, Commerce Coins are used for a variety of features in Where Winds Meet. The main ones are as follows:
- Housing rentals
- Social activities like card games, drinking games, Mahjong
- Group activities and mini-games
- Guild maintenance costs
Housing is the biggest spend, with three houses available for rent in Kaifeng. The range depends on what tier of house you buy, with a Mansion, smaller house and tiny apartment for rent, ranging from 1,000 to a 10,000 a month. Depending on how much you have, you can pay the rent for a real life set of time, and rent the place for that period. So, if you buy a house on January 1st for 2 months, you have that until March 1st in real time, for example. This will be the biggest upfront sink for the Commerce Coins you make.
In the meanwhile, there are activities you can partake in. Several NPCs will have mini games you can play, particularly wagering. These range from Mahjong, to co-op throwing pot battles. You often wager around 20 Commerce Coins per game, and can win some if you win that mode. You can find these often in every major village, city POI or other area of the map.Guild leaders may also need them for maintenance of guild features too. So, it is safe to say that you can spend a lot of these coins over time.
How to Get Commerce Coins¶

Commerce Coins are passively collected as rewards from a lot of activities. As mentioned, you can win Commerce Coins by continuing to wager in co-op activities with AI around towns and cities. You can also earn them from various side missions, Wandering Tales, story quests and other activities you find around the map.
If you need a lot of Commerce Coins, then there is a huge, yet somewhat limited farming method. You need to complete the Meow Meow cat activities in the overworld, which award you Bells. This currency is spent at the Meow vendor near the Bell Tower, which you can use to buy a lot of Commerce Coins. If you’re eyeing up renting that mansion, this might be one of the best angles to rent it for a good period of time.
Alternatively, when you unlock Kaifeng city, you can get special trader missions. Each week, a vendor will rotate their store near the Southern Gate Avenue POI, near the southern entrance of the city. This will be goods you can go out into the open world and sell to the NPC for Commerce Coins. It should help you find a more reliable weekly farm to get the currency you need for your housing rentals, or other vendor items you want to buy.
This concludes how to get and spend Commerce Coins in Where Winds Meet. Hopefully, you have a better idea of what to expect form this currency and what to do with it.
