All Weapons and How to Get Them
Weapon Tier List for PVE & PVP
When you first create your custom character in Where Winds Meet, you’ll begin your humble journey to becoming a martial arts master. At the very start of the game, you’re a journeyman, with simple skills with the family sword and spear, yet early on in your journey, you’ll get the choice to pick a weapon and start specializing your playstyle. You’ll encounter an NPC fairly early on after a few main story quests, and it will enable you to pick a weapon, which has fairly important connotations for your early game playstyle. Here’s a closer look at what weapon to pick from Qi Sheng’s exploration quest in Where Winds Meet.

What Weapon to Choose?¶
After completing the introductory main story quests, you should find an old man by a stall on the road. He will teach you Tai Chi, and then tell you to gather a bee hive. Once that’s done, he will award you with a choice of a weapon. Your choices are as follows:
- Panacea Fan - Healer
- Thundercry Blade - Tank
- Infernal Twin Blades - MDPS
- Vernal Umbrella - RDPS
Your choice here largely depends on what playstyle you want to use. Picking a weapon will unlock the martial arts feature of those weapons, allowing you to use the actual weapon skills.
Now, this is fairly important, as the game requires you to have the skills to use them. You can find the weapons from loot, mission rewards and more, but you cannot use their skills, which is the point of a build. So, choose which one you want to use.
If you’re playing as a party fairly early on, taking the Thundercry or the Panacea Fan are good choices for that tank or healer playstyle. The Thundercry also gets a strong defensive, which could be very good for harder difficulty playthroughs for strong self shielding.
Now, it’s important to mention that both the Panacea and Twin Blades are near the starting zone. So, at level 8 you can easily do that quest, get a key from a fort, and unlock those weapon types if you want them. Meanwhile, the Umbrella and Thundercry Blade are unlocked in Kaifeng, which requires you to complete the two main story chapters, often around level 30-40 range. So it can be a while before you get them again. That might influence your decision making on what weapon to run.

If you’re desperate to tank, there is a tanking spear, which you get in the mail after a few more main story missions. So, that can also factor in if you want a weapon that can taunt while tanking in co-op too.
But, that’s all the important information we can give you regarding what weapon to choose early on in Where Winds Meet. There’s also the Sect Method that unlocks some weapon masteries too, but that is largely a big decision, and hard to undo. So, the choice is yours. The Nameless weapons are not bad either, so even if you don’t like your option, both Nameless Sword and Weapon are perfectly viable.
