What Weapon to Choose From QI Sheng
How to Get and Use Dragon Keys
Where Winds Meet has a lot of weapons to choose from, each with their own role, theme, and style of gameplay. What makes the game even more interesting is that some weapons are designed for being main damage weapons, with others acting as ‘back bar’ support weapons to switch to. Throw in some weapons unlock at different rates, and it means some weapons, builds and playstyles are often hard to come across. So, we aim to assist you with a breakdown of how roughly the weapons play.
Here is a Weapon Tier List for Where Winds Meet, factoring in PvP and PvE combos and utility. Image via Gamer Guides / NetEase.
Weapon Tier List¶
Below is the tier list table for how we perceive the weapons. In general, play what you want. There isn’t a super competitive end game anyway. Meanwhile, in PvP the weapon pairing may matter more, especially for the arena. But since one of the modes is a BR, you’ll get what you get anyway and make things work as you can, hence the options for different weapon combos being available. In PvE, you’re really looking for something that is fun to pair with, or buffs your main weapon with the legendary innate martial art buff, which are restricted to a few weapons at launch.
Note you’ll need to get some of these weapons via various unlocks. If you want one, check out our start weapon picking guide for more information on how to get them. Or our deeper weapons list for better knowledge of the pairings.

Heavenquake Spear¶
Heavenquake Spear is a strong weapon, with it largely being a buff weapon. You will use your main spinning strikes to get different buffs, ranging from how many times you hit enemies with the opening Sober Sorrow skill. That can then feed into your other martial skill, before weapon swapping to transfer those buffs to your main one handed weapon. It’s often paired with the Strategic Sword because it can apply Bleed, and that contributes to the Strategic Sword’s Inner Balance Skill or charged heavy skill. It also nukes defenses too, making Bleeds stronger. It’s handy in PvP too, though, because you need to hit all your skills, it’s prone to being CC’d or easily dodged by enemies in both PvE and PvP, which makes it much harder to use properly.
Infernal Twinblades¶
Twinblades are a strong weapon, which has strong affinity application speeds with their rapid attacks. Furthermore, they benefit a lot from critical hit rating, and can do some chunky burst damage when things start rolling. If you get the legendary passive martial art note unlocked, you will notice this becomes a very strong early to mid level weapon, that’s used as a main weapon for damage dealing. Throw in more crit and the right gear sets and you’ll get very strong very fast indeed, regardless of game mode. The weapon is also extremely mobile, has high CC too, making it great for soloing in PvP and PvE too. The only downside is that it lacks moves with its heavy attack being a gauge switcher, which is easy to mess up if you use it at the wrong time.
Inkwell Fan¶
The Inkwell Fan is very strong in PvP thanks to its CC wall skill that is incredibly strong for controlling foes. Image via Gamer Guides / NetEase.
This is your main ranged DPS weapon as it’s often your tool for getting enemies airborne with the Umbrella. Your charged heavy attack also gets synergy with launched enemies, helping you to deal burst damage too with it. Making it very strong for PvE and PvP. It’s also very good at playing at range, helping to trivialize harder bosses too. What’s interesting is it offers great support with its windwall, deflecting attacks and projectiles. It’s also got a special move in PvE, that can be used to trap foes in a box area, making it very hard to deal with a strong fan player. All in all, it’s a great PvE weapon, and a strong PvP tool for buying time.
Mortal Rope Dart¶
In general, this is a strong support weapon thanks to the rat summon gameplay. This hits when you hit, meaning on faster attack weapons like the dual blades, it can be very handy for your energy spending heavy mode to get bonus damage off. It can be used for other weapons too, but the DBs are the most popular ones. It’s also great for a support weapon in PvP too, thanks to its rope pull a target to you, helpful for players trying to flee or heal up. It also combos with the rat doing increased damage to them too, so it makes for good burst setup for both PvE and PvP.
Nameless Spear¶
The nameless spear is a support weapon for the Nameless sword. The general idea is that it recovers Endurance and reduces endurance consumption. It’s nice on hard bosses or on harder modes for getting energy back and avoiding the exhausted state. Again, master when to use the dashes and staples for better abuse along with the Nameless sword to really master it. It’s alright for PvP too, but there are better options.
Nameless Sword¶
The Nameless Sword ha s strong gap closer and CC effect that makes it a very strong weapon for both PvE and PvP interrupts. Image via Gamer Guides / NetEase.
Nameless sword is an early game sword, with strong CC on one martial art move, charged up ranged attacks, and solid gap closer and escape tool in its second martial art skill .It’s a solid weapon for starters, and it can be combod nicely for heavy movement based skills, or with another weapon for easy to use CC switch in and out. All in all a solid early game main weapon, or support weapon for something like the dual blades or DPS fan. The Chinese version has got buffs, which make it a solid sword for mastering animation cancels, using the CC to interrupt prosperity and mastering when to light combo heavy attack etc. So, it can climb higher in the right hands. Consider running it with DBs for extra CC, the DPS ranged Weapons for melee options, or the Nameless Spear for a support buff weapon.
Panacea Fan¶
A strong support weapon for players looking for self healing on harder solo difficulties and group play. It’s a dedicated healer’s weapon for topping yourself up or the lowest HP ally, with some wider team healing. Great for solo back bar or a main healing weapon in group play. What you do with it affects how strong it really is.
Soulshade Umbrella¶
This is a fantastic co-op weapon. It comes with a healing turret mode, similar to the DPS Umbrella. But its special trick is a spell that heals allies, and buffs their damage too. It is fantastic for group dungeons, world bosses, and arena PvP, but terrible in the BR mode.
Stormbreaker Spear¶
This is a back bar weapon. The two main things with it are its martial art moves are an AOE taunt, perfect for tanking, and for diving in and making enemies vulnerable, and making yourself fortified, meaning you are immune to everything except CC. This is a great tanking weapon, engage weapon, support buffing, which is very handy for PvP too. It’s not a main weapon, but it’s a solid back bar support for PvE tanking and PvP utility.
Strategic Sword¶
Again, this is a bleed focused longsword weapon. It’s handy for stacking debuffs, which makes it good with affinities that lower defense, like the poison or water enhancement affinities. Throw that with the damage buffs from Heavenquake Spear and it’s quite nice. It makes for an engaging PvE build, but it requires landing key skills and charge ups, which makes it harder to use against spammy bosses in PvE or skilled players in PvP who can CC or dodge your stuff.
Thundercry Blade¶
The Mo Blade is a strong tanking weapon with a generous HP shield and devastating immunity charge attacks. Image via Gamer Guides / NetEase.
Thundercry Blade is a tanking weapon, with a really strong self absorb defensive, making it great for main weapon tanking, and PvP back bar survivability options. You’ll mainly use it as a main weapon in PvE, with slow staggering swings and massive Fortitude buff while channeling the charged heavy attack. It’s perfect for tanking in co-op if that’s what you want, or for solo players on harder difficulties.
Vernal Umbrella¶
This is a ranged weapon that is an excellent ranged support tool. Ideally, you can use this to get into the air with a charged heavy attack, getting away from awkward ground enemies in both PvE and PvP. It’s also got a special attack that allows it to form a turret that harasses enemies, which persists while weapon switched. It gets amplified if you can make an enemy airborne, making it a strong fit for the Inkwell Fan. All in all a solid back bar weapon for Ranged DPS players in both modes.
