All Weapons and How to Get Them

Where Winds Meet is here, and the playerbase can get their hands on the Wuxia martial arts game, going back to 10th century China and getting that martial arts experience. With the game here in the west, there are 16 weapons for you to uncover, but there are a lot of interesting things you need to be aware of with the weapons in the game. Here’s a closer look at all of the weapons in Where Winds Meet, and how to get them.

All Weapons in Where Winds Meet

As mentioned, there are 16 different weapons in Where Winds Meet. Note that there are special names of each weapon type, but you’ll find different named versions of the weapons, with different sets on them in game, which may affect naming conventions.

The weapons are as follows:

Weapon Role Pair recommendations
Heavenquake Spear Melee DPS Strategic Sword
Infernal Twinblades Melee DPS Mortal Rope Dart
Inkwell Fan Ranged DPS Vernal Umbrella
Mortal Rope Dart Melee DPS Infernal Twinblades
Nameless Spear Melee DPS Nameless Sword
Nameless Sword Melee DPS Nameless Spear
Panacea Fan Healer Soulshade Umbrella
Soulshade Umbrella Healer Panacea Fan
Stormbreaker Spear Tank Thundercry Blade
Strategic Sword Melee DPS Heavenquaker Spear
Thundercry Blade - Otherwise known as Mo Blade Tanking Stormbreaker Spear
Vernal Umbrella Ranged DPS Inkwell Fan

The weapons in this game are fairly interesting for a few reasons. Firstly, each weapon has two main martial art moves that you can unlock, with a heavy attack and charged heavy attack in some instances. These affect the players quite a lot.

This is why some weapons are better paired with other playstyles. In the game menu, you will find there are suggested builds which recommend comboing them. The reason for this is that some weapons have support skills, which can benefit other weapons. For example, the Rope Dart has a heavy skill that persists with other weapon swaps, which helps for the nice burst crit gameplay of the Infernal Twinblades. Meanwhile, the Stormbreaker Spear has a taunt swing, while the Thundercry Blade has a tanking defensive shield. There are a few other things that go into it, but it’s a rough idea of what’s going on.

The other interesting factor is the MMORPG-like roles in the game. There are ranged DPS, Melee DPS, Healers and tanks. What’s interesting about this is while the game is not a typical combat MMO, you can get social MMO elements in the game. These roles are handy for PvP players in Arena, to partying up and taking on World Bosses, and other instanced PvE events for gear. So these weapons can certainly help various playstyles for different fights.

I’d like to point out that just because the game recommends a build, you don’t need to use those two combos. For example, we ran an open world build using the Infernal Twin Blades and the Nameless Sword. We get some decent mobility for the kit, and two different types of CC effects from their martial art skills. So, you have options there.

How to Unlock Weapons in Where Winds Meet

One of the ways you can unlock weapons is by joining a Sect that a Sect specializes in. Image via Gamer Guides / NetEase.

Now, be aware that there are different tiers to unlocking weapons in Where Winds Meet.
At the start of the game, you will get the Nameless Spear and Nameless Sword from the get go as starter weapons. When you progress the main story from character creation, you can find a quest that lets you pick either:

  • Panacea Fan - Healer
  • Thundercry Blade - Tank
  • Infernal Twin Blades - MDPS
  • Vernal Umbrella - RDPS

There are suggested build paths, which will help you train and grabt the weapons, passives and skills you need for a build. image via Gamer Guides / NetEase.

As for the rest, they unlock in different stages on the map or via the Sects you can join. You can only join one Sect at a time, so choose wisely. For other methods, you can follow clues or Skill Thefts to unlock them at the following locations. If you need tips on finding them, head to the development menu, check a weapon, then a clue in the more info context on where to go. You’ll first need to complete an Exploration Quest near Peace Bell Tower to do the Skill Theft Missions properly.

Weapon Sect Skill Theft location
Heavenquake Spear Raging Tides Wildmane Ranch - Qinghe
Infernal Twinblades Midnight Blades Starfall Spring - Qinghe
Inkwell Fan Silver Needle Floral Expanse Beyond - Qinghe
Mortal Rope Dart Nine Mortal Ways Kaifeng City (requires disguise system which is a quest in the eastern part, with the main dojo for it in south Kaifeng) - Kaifeng
Panacea Fan Silver Needle Northern Bamboo Grove - Qinghe
Soulshade Umbrella Hollow Vale Mistveil Forest - Kaifeng
Stormbreaker Spear ?? Check in game mail after a few main story missions.
Strategic Sword Lone Cloud Between Palace of Annals and Encircling Lake - Qinghe
Thundercry Blade Well of Heaven Gracetown (east) - Kaifeng
Vernal Umbrella Velvet Shade Velvet Shade, Kaifeng City

If you’re getting a weapon from Qinghe, then be aware there are keys you need. These keys often come as rewards from MSQs, side quests, or even from the Forts you can loot with your daily energy. The ones in Kaifeng are much easier to obtain as you can simply enter the dojos, but you need to start the third main story chapter to enter and unlock Kaifeng, so progress the main story.

If you want to test some of the weapons, the first main storyline takes you to a hospital. As part of the quest, you’ll find a book with tutorials on all major weapons and get to test them on a boss battle later on if you’d like. So, that should give you an idea of what skill theft weapon or sect you may want to join.
