Gift of the Gab is one of the various exploration content themes you’ll find in Where Winds Meet. The mode gives players essentially a card game that you’ll need to beat various NPCs you find in Wandering Tales, general NPCs around the world, or for other quest forms. What’s really strange is how the pacing of the mode is, with it being really difficult with various NPCs around Heaven’s Pier and the ruined fort being extremely hard. So, here’s some general tips at what to expect from the Gift of the Gab missions in Where Winds Meet.

Gift of the Gab Tips¶
So, when you enter a Gift of the Gab battle, you’ll be given a hand of cards, with different cooldown timers, effects, buffs, and debuffs. You’ll want to use these to buff your own defense, making you take less damage, lower their defense, making them take more damage, and in general attack them where possible.

When you use these cards that have mixed effects, you can occasionally get a choice event pop up, but you’ll need to check the spam wall of dialogue that pops up on the screen. Depending on the device you use, you may see an LT/RT or L2/R2 controller icon pop up, depending on what side the multi choice attack and defend option appears on. See the image above for reference. These messages may flash up temporarily, and are easy to miss. These are very important for actually getting the full benefit of proc time events that make winning battles easier.
Note that some of these battles are generally very hard to beat. The warriors by the Northern Fort in the Verdant Wilds springs to mind. As does the old man near the brewer in Heaven’s Pier. Others are fairly easy like the merchant for the incense for the old lady near the Clinic and the merchant in Kaifeng’s introductory quests for example.
Often enough, the hard ones typically require players to progress the Careers feature in Where Winds Meet. You can check this in your main menu, and it unlocks after a level feature. You can get Scholar as a career, and when learned, it allows you to start crafting special decks for Gift of the Gab. These cards are better than the basic ones you get at the moment, and make it easier to combo better buffs, debuffs and damage modifiers. When you get that career, you can progress it with Gift battles, and then craft new cards at Crafting Zones. Look for the anvil on the world map, but you can often find them in Harvestfall Village, the Heaven’s Pier Brewery area, and in Kaifeng’s south eastern city boundary too. You will need these to beat the harder ones.
These tips should help you out with beating the Gift of the Gab events, especially since they are fast paced and chaotic, and you hardly get a time to think what’s going on when you’re new.
