The Dogs Know First Walkthrough
Silver Needle: Dr Yuan Location and Sect Overview
The Midnight Blades is one of the Sects in Where Winds Meet, featuring the more assassin focused role playing elements. This Sect is designed for ninjas out there, who want to specialize in PvP, Infernal Dual Blade Builds, and things of that nature. Here’s a closer look at how the Midnight Blade Sect works in Where Winds Meet.
Before we go deeper, note that you can only join one Sect at a time. This will lock you in, and you will need to do a special quest to exit the Sect, or break your reputation to 0 and get kicked out. So keep that in mind when joining a Sect.
Joining the Midnight Blades¶

To join the Midnight Blades, you need to head over to Halo Peak, and check the clue for the Sect. You will come across a cliff edge near the Halo Peak with several dead bodies. There will also be a dying man nearby to talk to. From there, you need to wait till nightfall, and then speak to a mysterious figure called Icchantik overlooking the field of corpses. He will task you with taking a Rogue Decree. You can get one from him or the mysterious assassin in Heaven’s Pier by the drinking stall at the front of the village.
Now, you need to kill enemies while the Decree is in your inventory. Luckily for you, there are some hostile monk camps to the west of your current location. Kill them and return to the Icchantik and hand them over. If you fail to hand over the bloody one, then you may get the Midnight Sect after you. If you hand in a bloodied one, then you join the Midnight Sect.
If you hand in the right item, you can join the Midnight Blades regardless of failing to hand in the right one first time. Upon joining, you’ll immediately learn the Martial arts for the Dual Blades if you have not already got them from the Skill Theft unlock mission from the Dragon Key mission.
How to Rank Up in Midnight Blades¶
PvP is a big part of the Midnight Blades in Where Winds Meet. Image via Gamer Guides / NetEase.
For the most part, the rules of the Midnight Blades are combat and PvP focused. This sect wants you to kill things in open world, generally not avoid running away, and even get involved in PvP missions. Going to the PvP forest zone, which is the Battle Royale map area, gives players a lot of status with the guild. Meanwhile, you can kill Wanderers, which are players in Arena, and perform other open world assassination quests.
When you’re in the sect and want to rank up, go to the Sect Status page. This will show you the main quests to rank up in the Midnight Blades. The first few missions are:
- Kill for Enlightenment: Kill 20 enemy players in Arena
- Bearing in Sin: Slay the Ferrymen to get the Faded Decree
- Inner Peace: Hang the Faded Decree at the Tree of Sin and complete the Path of Bloodshed
You can complete these in order, and then get the quest clues to do the rest of the missions.
If you need to change your status and loyalty to the Sect, then going around killing or going into the Forest PvP BR mode will help you out in recovering. Being too nice will lower your status, as will not engaging with PvP or fleeing combat. So, it’s a juggling act. Failure to uphold the rules will lower your status and trust, and eventually lead to being kicked out of the guild.
Keep increasing your Sect Status to get new tiers of rewards from the Sect shop. Your big ticket item is a red dress outfit with black robes to make you look like an assassin. There’s also weekly challenges in the guild to be the number one player in the sect, which puts you on the sect history board to preserve your status as an elite member of the sect if you chose to go that far.
