Mount Fay Walkthrough & Route to Get Double Jump (Faydown Cloak)
How to Access Both Far Fields Secret Areas
Hollow Knight Silksong’s exploration is leading players to find their way through the world, whether that’s to various quests, NPCs or rewards. With some insight and intrigue, some players may have noticed there are secret quests, acts and other achievements that let players get different endings to the game. After some research, we now know how to get all the endings in Hollow Knight Silksong. So, our endings guide should help you figure out what ending to get and what achievements you’re missing.
Silksong Endings Guide¶
In total, there are four endings to Hollow Knight Silksong, which are as follows:
| Ending | Trophy |
|---|---|
| Normal Ending | Weaver Queen |
| Twisted Ending | Twisted Child |
| Soul Ending | Snared Silk |
| True Ending | Sister of the |
| Secret Ending |
Be aware that the first two on our list can be done via the traditional ending to Act 2. There is an optional third act, that has a lot of content in it. But, to do those, you must get the Soul Ending, as that counts as both an Act 2 ending for an achievement, and gives you access to Act 3 on retrying from the save. Then the Act 3 endings are a choice between one or the other, as you need to do two different things to get it. We recommend creating a backup of your save if you can and then grab one ending, then the other before the boss fight.
If you want a specific ending, feel free to use our lookup table to get to the ending you want. Be advised, we have spoiler boxed the instructions so you don’t ruin it for yourself.
Silksong’s Normal Ending¶
The normal ending is the most simple. To get it you need to do the following:
Simply defeat the Silk Mother and bind her as normal to get the normal ending to Hollow Knight Silksong. Image via Gamer Guides / Team Cherry.
- Complete the Act 1 objective to activate all the bells
- Proceed into Act 2 and defeat
Cogwork Dancers in Choral Chambers - Acquire all the musical sheets in High Halls, Whispering Vaults and Memoriam
- Unlock the Cradle region and defeat
Lace - Now move into the last boss room and defeat
Grand Mother Silk and bind her powers.
This will end the game there and then as the default standard ending.
Twisted Child Ending¶
The Twisted Child ending requires the same early and mid game requirements as the normal ending. However, you will need to get some extra items.
The parasite inside you wins, and you become one with the Greyroot and its Twisted Bud. Image via Gamer Guides / Team Cherry.
- Proceed through the Whispering Vaults, and take the right pathway that leads to a huge vertical drop into Bilewater.
- From Bilewater, you need to follow the left path where you enter the zone, then break into the pathways and double back to the sound of a baby crying noise.
- You will get an item called Twisted Bud from a cradle. Take the
Twisted Bud to Greyroot in Shellwood and hand it over. - Speak to her again, and you will become cursed - this starts the Rite of Rebirth Wish, but you don’t want to complete it.
- Now, you need to go and defeat the Grand Mother Silk boss like you would do in the first ending.
- However, the curse means you cannot heal, or use tools. So, it’s essentially the hard mode of the normal playthrough.
We recommend only doing the Twisted Bud stuff once you’ve completed the mid and late game main story objectives. Otherwise, you’ll be cursed for the remainder of the main quest objectives, which is not ideal.
Silk and Soul Ending¶
The interesting thing about this ending is that it’s not really a game over ending. Instead, it unlocks a new portion of the game (Act 3), but it does give you an ending related to the main storyline, hence the achievement.
This ending allows you to unlock Act 3, as long as you do a quest and press the right button at the final Act 2 fight. Image via Gamer Guides / Team Cherry.
The Silk and Soul ending will require the same steps as the normal ending, but like the Twisted Ending, it needs a rather large tweak.Proceed through Act 1 and 2 as normal and do not defeat the Grand Silk Mother until you do the following:
- Find all Flea locations. You can use our Silksong Interactive Map to find all the Flea locations if you’d like. Finding all Fleas moves the caravan to the Putrified Ducts region, and creates a town called Fleatopia.
- Complete most if not all Wishes from Act 2. - There’s some weird trigger stuff here so we say all just for now, as the trigger seems rather inconsistent
- When this happens, you should get a Wish called the Silk and Soul from the Songhaven Wish Board.
- You now need to find 4 different souls across the map. They are as follows:
- Groal - A nasty boss with an awful Bilewater Bench run back to the boss room.
- Bell Hermit - Underneath Bellhaven which you can access in the Bellway room by going to the right through the wall and down again. Smash the objects a bit and then you should find him in a large pipe home.
Maiden’s Soul - The Ruined Temple Maiden you meet at the start of the game after the first boss, before Bone Bottom town.
Snare Setter - An item you need from the Weavernest region. Open the Needlein door in Moss Grotto to access it. Go explore, and it’s two layers directly above the bench at the bottom of the map.
With the souls and snare acquired, you can now hand in the wish. Go to the final boss and defeat her. When the boss is defeated, hold Y or Triangle to snare the boss, rather than bind her. This will allow you to access Act 3, and give you the canon ending of the Silk and Soul ending.
True Ending: Sister of the Void¶
This is one of the endings related to actually playing through Act 3. To get this, you pretty much need to do everything in the optional areas. See how to get the Silk and Soul ending to begin working through this ending. When you finish the game, load your save back up and you should be in Act 3. This will also help you chip away at reaching 100% completion too.
The True Ending takes place in an area in the Abyss, accessible via the Deep Docks bell elevator. Image via Gamer Guides / Team Cherry.
From there, you get new objectives to complete. The objectives take you through to the new zone, The Abyss, and you can progress other quests like the Green Prince, among other deeds. Make sure to get the
Silk Soar ability in the bottom right region of the Abyss, as you won’t be able to complete the ending otherwise.
But, to progress the actual ending, you need to go and see the
Shamans, near Moss Grotto. You will get some Wishes called the
Spell Seeker, followed by
The Old Hearts.
The Old Hearts quest requires you to seek out the:
Heart of Might - Coral Tower
Heart of the Woods - Found in a woodland area at the bottom of
Grand Gate and then to the left
Heart of the Wild - Located in the secret area of Far Fields, which you access via the top right of
Hunter’s March. You will need Silk Soar to get this.
With the hearts acquired, finish the Wish, and you should get the
Everbloom. Use this item in the Deep Dock area, specifically at the large bell towards the bottom of the zone. It brings you to the final boss for the True Ending.
Secret Ending¶
Like the True Ending, you need to be in Act 3 for this. However, the process is a bit different.
For this Silksong ending guide, you need to find all the mushrooms around the map. Image via Gamer Guides / Team Cherry.
- You need to make your way to the Putrified Ducts in the very top right of the map.
- Progress all the way along and then you can find a lore tablet in the very top right of that zone. Pass through Fleatopia, and then up above the Pale Lake.
- Now, you need to find seven different mushrooms across the map. You can find them:
- Moss Grotto - Just before the Ruined Temple in Moss Grotto
- Bone Bottom - Between Bone Bottom and the Marrow between a ledge.
- Far Fields - In the very bottom right of Far Fields, near the Needlein door
- Greymoor - At the top of the tower on the left side of Greymoor, which borders the
Wisp Thicket area between Greymoor and The Underworks. - The Slab - Inside the Heretic’s/
First Sinner’s Room in the Slab - Mount Fay - Where you get the Faydown Cloak from in Mount Fay
- The Cradle - At the very top of the Cradle when you get Sky Soar
This seems to be a reference to the silly Hollow Knight 1 ending that was also a secret. The ending of the trailers leaves a to be continued. Hollow Knight 3 confirmed?
This concludes all the endings and all the steps you need to complete the endings.
