Twisted Bud Location, Secret Quest and Endings explained
All Needle Upgrades and Pale Oil Locations
The Ruined tool is one of the items that players can find in Hollow Knight Silksong. The item can be used as part of crafting, which enables players to upgrade it to one of three variants. However, to get it, you need to explore Bilewater, and find a Weavenest Murglin door you unlock with the Needlein, and then find the item inside. Once you get it,you have some choices. Here’s everything you need to know about the
Ruined Tool in Hollow Knight Silksong.

You can find the Ruined Tool in Weavenest Muglin, in the very bottom right part of the Bilewater region. Image via Gamer Guides.
In case you’ve read up elsewhere, we’ll cover the location first. To find this item, you need to head to Weavenest Murglin, which is located in the bottom right of the Bilewater region.
You need to approach the door, use Needlein on the door, and it should open. From there, head inside, and you can find the Broken Tool by a strange workstation in the first room.
Now, to interact with it, you need to find a spare
Craftmetal. The Craftmetal can be purchased from one of the traders in Bone Bottom, or found in various areas around the Underworks, Deep Docks, The Marrow and other such locations. We have a Silksong interactive map so you can check for Craftmetal locations to craft the item.
How to Repair the Ruined Tool¶
You can find the Ruined Tool repair stations in the following locations. Image via Gamer Guides
Now, to repair the Broken Tool, you can visit one of three locations:
- Mount Fay Peak - In a small room below where you got the Faydwon Cloak towards the peak, next to the bench. Map Marker .
- Forge Daughter - Need one Craftmetal and 240
Rosaries - Located where you originally find it. Map Marker
Architect - Need one Craftmetal and 130 Rosaries. Can be found in his Underworks building, which requires
Clawline to access. Map Marker
Depending where you go, you’ll get a different result for the item you repair.
| Names | Location | Type |
|---|---|---|
| Mount Fay | 16 round weapon which fires like a railcannon. | |
| Deep Docks | 30 round capacity that fires like a slug shotgun round. | |
| Underworks | 24 round capacity that fires like a triple burst assault rifle |
The best depends on what style you want to play. The Forge version is a heavy hitter, but it is slow, but comes with more capacity. Meanwhile, the Architect’s assault rifle allows you to easily spray at multiple enemies if that’s more your thing. The Rail cannon one is a slow windup but fires an incredibly fast projectile that does a lot of damage. Its con is that you being locked in place can get you killed, at the cost of doing big damage. You can see an example of the three tools in use over at Melo’s YouTube channel. We’ve linked to the timestamp so you can easily see all three in use within a 20 second or so clip.
Hopefully that helps you decide how to repair the Ruined Tool in Silksong. Don’t forget if you’re aiming for 100% completion, you need to forge this item as you need it for the tool progression. If you don’t do this in time.
