The 
Twisted Bud is a curious item that players can find partway through Act 2 of Hollow Knight Silksong. Unlike other items, this item has a pretty significant impact on the game ending and some achievements. So it’s important to use this item wisely. Here’s everything you need to know about the Twisted Bud in Hollow Knight Silksong.
Twisted Bud Location¶

To get your hands on the Twisted Bud, you need to unlock the very top left of Bilewater. - To get here, you need to proceed into the Whispering Vaults.
- Follow the Vaults through to the right side and keep going low and right. You should eventually get to a place where you can glide down, and keep gliding hitting the edge of the biome.
- When you fall all the way down, you will eventually reach Bilewater.
- Follow the bend around, and then down again.
- Now you need to go left.
- Follow the left route into a dense root pathway, and then jump up when you reach the end.
- You should now be following the pathway towards the sound of a crying baby in a cot.
- Take the item in the cot, and you will get the Twisted Bud item.
Now, what you do with the item depends on what ending you want to get.
Twisted Bud Ending Connections¶
If you want to do the Secret Act 3 ending, then you need to complete the Wishes in Act 2, without defeating the final boss in the Cradle. If you want to do the Twisted Child ending, then you need to defeat the Act 2 boss while being cursed.
Thankfully, initiating both endings are somewhat the same. Take the Twisted Bud to the Greyroot NPC in Shellwood. That’s the NPC you get the Rite of the Pollip quest from to get the Pollip toolbelt. If you need a refresher, Greyroot is here Map Marker

Twisted Child Ending¶
Now, when you go to Greyroot, you will be able to mention you have the Twisted Bud. Continue the conversation, and you will then be cursed. This starts the 
Rite of Rebirth Wish, which will have you cursed while it’s ongoing.
Now, depending on what you want to do, you now need to either go and defeat the last boss, or complete the Wish. If you defeat the final boss of the game (Great Mother Silk in the Cradle area) while cursed, you will get the Twisted Child ending. That’s it.
Again, make sure to complete all other objectives that lead to unlocking The Cradle. You don’t want to do the rest of the game while cursed. It makes it harder for no gain.
Connections to Act 3 Secret Ending¶
Giving the Twisted Bud to our Grey friend here will set you to being cursed. You will need to complete the final main story boss in this state or finish the Wish to remove it. Image via Gamer Guides / Team Cherry.
On the other hand, if you want the Act 3 secret ending, then you need to complete the Rite of Rebirth and the associated wish, 
Infestation Operation.
Doing these two will chip away at the requirements to get Act 3, which how you get the 100% Completion too. Completing both of these wishes rewards you with being healed and no longer cursed. You will then unlock the Crest of the 
Witch, which is the cursed moveset you have while you are under the effects of the curse. Although, you will get the toolbelt back and have the option to change Crests if you’d like.
Now, you need to do the rest of the Act 2 Wishes and completionism achievements, like finding all the Fleas, and other activities. This is a mere part of unlocking the Act 3 ending.
