Rite of Rebirth Walkthrough: Bad Ending & Cure Endings
Wanderer's Crest Location
You will come across a number of side quests in Hollow Knight: Silksong, some of which are gotten from various Wishwalls you find. Once you free Bellhart after defeating Widow, you can return to Bone Bottom to get this quest from the board there. This is the first Grand Hunt Wish in the game, which are quests that ask you to defeat a boss. In this instance, you’re asked to kill the Skull Tyrant, a boss that is found in The Marrow.
The Terrible Tyrant is the first Grand Hunt Wish, which will pit you against a boss.
Skull Tyrant Location¶
The Skull Tyrant is found in The Marrow, but you couldn’t get to this boss’ location without the Cling Grip (Wall Jump) ability. When you look at the zoomed in map, you should notice some spots where there’s a path that you haven’t explored quite yet in The Marrow. This will be pretty much a little east of the central part of the area. Fast travel there and make your way to the Bench along the bottom of the area. From there, travel east through two rooms, until you get a lone platform that allows you to reach a wall to get up higher.
This secret cavern area is littered with creatures, as well as falling rock traps, so be on the lookout for them. There are also plenty of breakable walls here, so keep checking things with your weapon. Head to the left at first, then make your way up until you find a hole in the ceiling to jump through. This leads to the area with the boss, but exit to the left first to open a shortcut for an easier runback, should you die in battle. Once you’re ready, go to the top level and all the way on the right to find the Skull Tyrant.
Skull Tyrant Boss Strategy¶
The Skull Tyrant is a pretty simple boss, as it only has three attacks. The first is when it simply runs and charges straight at you, which you can easily dodge by jumping over it. Since it has a hard skull covering it, doing a pogo jump off of it isn’t really going to cause any damage. The other two attacks are similar, as Skull Tyrant will jump and upon landing on the ground, some debris will randomly fall from the ceiling. One key difference, though, is if it jumps in place or going forward. If it’s going forward, then there will only be one or two pieces of debris.
If the boss is jumping in place, it’ll usually do it like three times, causing a lot more debris to fall. Pretty much any damage you take will be two masks, so you want to avoid getting hit at all here. If you see the boss doing the jump, then you could try to dash underneath it, but go away from it to avoid any potential damage. You’ll also want to avoid going too far to the right, as you don’t want to get stuck in the corner. Just be a little on the cautious side and not too aggressive, since it’s easy to accidentally take damage.
(1 of 4) Pogo jumping on the boss won’t do anything, but it can help you dodge its charge attack.
Rewards¶
Eventually, you’ll take down the Skull Tyrant, so look for the glowing item on the ground and loot it for the Crown Fragment. Return to the Wishwall in Bone Bottom and interact with it to finish the quest, where you’ll receive a Heavy Rosary Necklace as the reward.
