As you make your way through Chapter 1, you’ll come across a strange door with a red light against it. If you approach it, it will give you a riddle, with two options to choose from. The option is irreversible, and will set a course of various rewards, open new areas, or give you new dialogues. In addition, if you’re a trophy hunter, then you will want to answer all doors correctly as it will give you the trophy, So you will want to answer them correctly. This guide will go through the options for each door, detailing what you get for each one.

Worship Rise Riddle Door - Winged Ascension or Feathered Transcendance Choice?

The Palace Riddle Door can give you a Benediction, or take you to an otherwise locked off location. Image via Gamer Guides / 505 Games.

This Riddle Door is located in the Palace area towards the end of Chapter 1 in Worship’s Rise. You get the following options when you approach it:

  • Winged Ascension - Correct answer for the Riddle achievement.
  • Feathered Transcendence - Wrong Answer

Winged Ascension
If you select the correct answer, the only thing of note is you get:

Feathered Transcendence

  • If you choose the Feathered Transcendence option, you will be marked as incorrect for that door.
  • You will then be sucked into the door, and teleported into a new area inside the Palace.
    • For reference, there’s a locked door near where the ladder is that climbs on top of the building facing the "Lotus Pond" iconLotus Pond.
  • When inside that building, you can fight a Demon and get a "Faint Red Feather" iconFaint Red Feather.
  • You can also find the Boatman in the Vegetable Garden, digging a grave.
    • The Boatman gives you some "Red Mercury" iconRed Mercury, and you can loot a full grown red Mercury from the grave he is digging too. You do not need to see the Boatman here for his quest, but it’s some cool backdrop ready for Chapter 4, especially for a character called Magalhese.

Hillswatch Riddle Door: Course of Destiny or Thread of Fate?

The second Riddle Door can give you a nice armor set for later, or fast track you into the heart of Chapter 2. Image via Gamer Guides / 505 Games.

This riddle door is located as you exit the cave leading to the Hillswatch Shrine. When you approach it, you will get the option to choose from Follow the course of destiny or Challenge the threads of fate:

  • Follow the course - Wrong answer
  • Challenge the threads - Correct answer

Challenge the threads
If you select the correct answer, the door will open. It leads to a ledge where you spotted an item pickup as you entered the cave from "Reverent Temple" iconReverent Temple’s entrance.

  • The item pick up contains a "Bridal Set" iconBridal Set, which is particularly good at Blight and Corruption resistance.
  • Another achievement progress marked as correct for the Sage trophy.

Follow the course
If you choose the wrong answer, you will

  • Be teleported to an area called "Mort Grotto" iconMort Grotto.
    • This is a fairly large cave system in the middle section of Chapter 2. The Grotto has a lot of enemies in there, alongside quite a few NPC locations.

It’s important to note that the players can naturally find this cave system as they progress from Hillswatch into the Rebel camp area. So, getting the right answer doesn’t mean you miss out on much. Though, for speed runners, you can probably use this as a skip to get through Hillswatch, which is something to consider on a NG+ playthrough if you’re not bothered about the Hillswatch NPCs.

Bo Capital Riddle Door - The Grand Dream Fades or Wheel Turns Anew Choice?

The final Riddle Door can give you some nice end game story and rewards, or potentially take you to an alternate ending. Image via Gamer Guides / 505 Games.

The final major riddle door is in Chapter 5. As you make your way through the Chapter 5 Capital area, you will eventually come across a Shrine called the "Depths of the Capital" iconDepths of the Capital. This shrine has the riddle door located next to it.

When you interact with the door, you will be offered these choices:

  • The Grand Dream Fades - Correct
  • The Wheels Turn Anew - Incorrect

This riddle door is much different than the previous two though.

The Grand Dream Fades
This option is the correct choice for the achievement, opening the door for you.

  • When inside, you will find the Boatman NPC.
    • This is the final time you get to meet the Boatman and get more insight into the game’s storyline.
    • For reaching this NPC and speaking to him, you will get a Lustrous Red Feather, an item that can be used to upgrade your weapon to level 10. This in turn gives you an achievement, so it’s worth getting.

The Wheels Turn Anew
However, the wrong answer is very important too. If you’re looking for one of the game’s alternate endings, you need to select the Grand Dream Fades option.

  • This will teleport you to an area called the "Shrine Dwelling" iconShrine Dwelling.
  • The Shrine Dwelling contains one of the pathways to an ending, in which the player needs to beat a boss.
    • You will need to play through the White Robed Elder’s storyline and not break the run to get all the effects of this location.

We recommend checking out our White Robed Elder guide to get the full detail on how to use this door in relation to that questline. But, if you’re interested, we have some spoiler content below hidden in our spoiler warning box just in case you’re interested in finding out.

If you refused the White Robed Elder or did not seek him out at the "Tomb" iconTomb area in Chapter 3 after beating "Bo Sorcerer" iconBo Sorcerer, then you won’t need to access this area. To ensure you get the ending, and you make the right choice for your trophy, we recommended checking out our White Robed Elder guide to get the full detail on how to use this door in relation to that questline.

With that said, this concludes the three main Riddle Doors you can find in Wuchang Fallen Feather. You can do this in one playthrough if you want to get them all right. But, keep in mind you’ll need multiple playthroughs to get the other ending anyway. Also, don’t get these confused with the yellow gate doors. These are Benediction Gates, and they always open and award you a benediction. They have their own trophy associated with them too. Feel free to check a guide out on them too to find them all.
