How to Parry, Clash and Deflect
After you beat Chapter 1 of Wuchang Fallen Feathers, the game opens up to take you to two new areas, based on NPC dialogue. You have the Cloudspire arena, rich in
Red Mercury, and where several NPCs want to go. Then you have MT. Zhenwu, another area with a religious significance for the main story characters. When you get to
Hillswatch, you can easily explore an optional area that leads to Mt Zhenwu, rather thanb progressing into Cloudspire as normal. So, the question is, should you do Mt. Zhenwu or Cloudspire first since the game lets you into both areas easily?
We give you he pros of cons on which major zone you should visit first, Mt. Zhenwu or Cloudspire in Wuchang Fallen Feathers. Image via 505 Games.
Cloudspire or Mt Zhenwu first?¶
If you’re in the position you’ve explored an optional area, and don’t know which region to cover first, we have your back.
In almost all scenarios, you should do Cloudspire first.
The main reason for this is down to how buggy some of the NPCS are. Most of the NPCS you find in Chapter 1 will go to Chapter 2. These include:
- Huang Jian’e
- Nian Suichang
- And potentially Qiao Ying, depending on an option to choose in chapter 1.
Additionally, you will also miss out on other key subplots like:
- Fang Yao - who plays a major role in an alternative ending
- You’ll miss out on The Gang’s storyline, a nice subplot in Chapter 2
Going to chapter 3 first in all of these situations absolutely breaks these other NPCs, meaning you miss out on quite a lot of content.
So, you get quite a lot of content from doing Cloudspire first.
However, there are a few benefits of doing Chapter 3 first.
- You will typically get more Red Mercury rewards for doing Chapter 3, with not so much difficulty spike.
- You can get way more
Brilliant Red Feathers from Chapter 3 than 2, making your build stronger with much fewer levels. - You can go back to Chapter 2 and speed run the area with how over-powered for the area you will be.
So, there’s trade offs…
If you’re not too bothered about the storyline and potential alternate endings, we recommend speed running chapter 3 on a playthrough. If you want to partake in all the content and get the better experience from the game’s storytelling and NPC engagement, and the rewards from them, then Chapter 2 is highly recommended, especially with how good some of the NPC rewards can be by not breaking the main storyline npcs.
