How to Crunch Dead Roots
Farm Mutation Kills
Water in Grounded 2 is a key part of the game’s survival mechanics. Players need to drink in order to not die of dehydration. Thankfully, there’s a lot of tips players can do to get control of their needs. Here’s everything you need to know about getting water in Grounded 2.

How to get Water¶
To get Water, you need to do any of the following:
- Drink or collect dew
- Go to soda cans or juice box landmarks and get the drinks from them
- Water containers in Ominent Labs
- Build base water collection system
- Craft water containers to store water you find on the go.
For the most part, the best way of getting water is by going to the dew drops. Every morning, water will collect on blades of grass and dangle down. You can hit the blades of grass to knock them down, in which they’ll roll off and you can collect or drink them.
We find that the best times are between 7 am and trill 1 am for Dew droplets to spawn. So, make sure to run around a grassy area and check the blades of grass for the water droplets.
You can then craft a canteen to store up on them. To do so you need:
- 3x
Grub Hide - 2x
Crude Rope
Each
Canteen can carry up to two drinks at a given time. Build multiple if you need to, or do runs with your canteen then you can deposit them at your
Water Container building piece in your base.
Another tip is to build base walls around sloped areas near the grass. The base Gamer Guides uses has a wall against a pathway to stop critters from walking in. However, the benefit is that dew falls down that pathway and stops at the wall, making it easy to retrieve passively moving bits of water, which is a nice touch.

The other tip is the Ominent Labs. Some of them around the map have little water fountains you can drink from. It’s handy if you’re in a pinch in late game areas, but they are not available in the early game.
Water Container¶
If you want to make your base dehydration proof, build a water container:
Acorn Shell x3- Crude Rope x2
Clover Leaf x1
You can fill this large bucket up by storing water from your container to fill it up. It allows you to easily go on a morning run and collect the Dew, store it in your canteen, then return and deposit in the collector to get yourself a little reservoir going.
Dew Collector¶
Then, the other method is to build a
Dew Collector. It is a placeable building that requires:
Not that the Dew Collector is a mid game building piece. You will need to get Weed Stems, and you need Silk Rope, which requires the
Spinning Wheel and webs from spiders to turn into Silk Rope. Making Silk Rope takes around 2 minutes per item, so I can take a while to craft a Dew Collector in your base.
When you place a dew Collector, you will passively get water on it. You don’t need to place it anywhere special. It wakes around 8 in-game hours to get one Dew though, so don’t entirely rely on it. Maybe build another to ensure you are getting a decent supply per person.
