The Ice Sickle is a weapon in Grounded 2 that players can earn by completing a challenge inside the Ice Cream Cart. The challenge requires proper preparation to overcome the challenges. We’ll give you the best tips to get and find the "Ice Sickles" iconIce Sickles and how to best use them in your farming and builds.

Here is a look at how to get and use the Ice Sickles in Grounded 2. Image via Gamer Guides / Obsidian.

Ice Sickle Location

The Ice Sickles are located inside the Ice Cream Cart. Though, players will need to perform some mini games first to get there.

When inside, you want to do the following to find the Ice Sickle location:

  1. Head towards the Ice Cream Cart, and enter one of the tunnels to the cart itself.
  2. When inside the cart, climb up the cart towards the top compartment.
  3. You should see a metal fan right below the roof of the cart.
  4. Smash the icicles around the different layers of the fan to reactivate it.
  5. Reactivating the cart opens up a hole below the fan. Enter the hole to access a new tunnel. It takes you a "Milk Molar" iconMilk Molar.
  6. The tunnel then takes you to another secret compartment.

When inside, you can find the Ice Sickles embedded in a MIX.R, acting like the sword in the stone. When you interact with them, it will start a battle you need to win against various "Northern Scorpion" iconNorthern Scorpions. Make sure you’re ready before continuing.

How to Unlock the Ice Sickles

When you’re in the room, you can interact with the Ice Sickles. This starts a mini MIX.R event where you need to defeat all the enemies that spawn through the course of the battle. Defeating enemies will slowly progress the meter up that appears in the bottom right. Note that the Ice Sickles have their own Health bar. You will need to prevent the health bar from depleting through the course of the battle too. Simply fill the bar by defeating all the enemies to win the Ice Sickles reward.

Stand on the Spork as it will reduce your Chilling effect when you don’t need to fight enemies. Image via Gamer Guides / Obsidian.

Before we begin, here are some good tips to keep in mind:

  • There’s a spork that brings you to the outside sunlight. This will lower your Chill meter preventing your attack speed being lowered, and potentially frozen solid mid fight.
    • The Chill meter slows your attack speed down at 50%, so keep it below 50% if possible.
  • The Ice Sickles can draw the aggro of some of the Scorpions. Use this to your advantage to get hits against the Rump / Stinger of some of the harder to kill foes.
  • Take off your Chill armor and use better gear for your weapon build. Run to the spork fairly often to lower your Chill meter.
  • Most builds wont let you equip a torch in your weak hand. This will increase your chill buildup very quickly.
  • "Scorpidote" iconScorpidote is another smoothie you can make, but is not entirely needed if you dodge enough of the stinger attacks.

Throughout the course of the fight, you will battle many Scorpionlings, with some Scorpion Juniors spawning. You will need to fight around two Northern Scorpions by the time the fight comes to an end. But, they don’t spawn at the same time so there’s some breathing room.

Make sure you dodge the stinger attacks, and have some potions for healing, anti chill and health kits with you. Make sure your preferred build weapons and armor are repaired fully. You won’t need to repair through the fight.

Now, with those tips, simply survive the gauntlet encounters and fill the meter up. Once the meter is filled and the MIX.R has health left over, you will automatically pick the Ice Sickles up.

Crafting and Repairing Ice Sickle

(1 of 4) You can aquire the Frostbitten Key from the dead human near the strawberry ice cream cone inside the ice Cream Cart. Image via Gamer Guides / Obsidian.

If you ever need to craft an Ice Sickle yourself in Grounded 2, then you can do so. You will need the following items:

The Northern Scorpion enemies tend to drop the chunks and can drop the pincers, but low quantities.

Meanwhile, the Mint Globs require some scavenging. Inside the Ice Cream Cart’s southeastern edge inside, you will find a human corpse beside a strawberry ice cream cone. The body has a key next to it called the Frostbitten key. This key opens a chest you can dig up in the corner of the Ice Sickle event room.

We recommend digging it up when you have spare inventory space. Digging the chest up and opening it will cause you not to loot anything, which is an issue. So, make sure to clear an inventory space out of your backpack and then dig up and loot the chest to get your 2x Mint Globs.

Now you’ll have the parts to craft your own in case you happen to lose or not get the Ice Sickles in your playthrough.

Repairing Ice Sickles
If you need to repair them, you only need to repair them with "Mint Shard" iconMint Shards. There’s plenty around the map, with the most dense location inside the Ice Cream Cart itself. Check the caves and the Mint Tubs inside the cart to easily stockpile this material. You can use it for crafting along with other recipes.

Ice Sickle Builds

The Ice Sickle is perfect for countering the annoying Praying Mantis Tier 3 enemies. Image via Gamer Guides / Obsidian.

Now you have your Ice Sickles, they are very good. These weapons are much better for raw damage, and stun power amongst the dual wield weapons, However they lack crit chance compared to the "Wolf Spider" iconWolf Spider daggers.

Instead, the Ice Sickles provide the unique combo of Slashing and Fresh damage. This combo is very important. The reason for it is because they excel at defeating the bug enemies in the game. Enemies like the "Mosquito" iconMosquito, Praying Mantis and the "Bombardier Beetle" iconBombardier Beetles are countered hard by these weapons. As all three are weak to slashing and fresh. The "Stinkbug" iconStinkbug is also weak to Fresh, but not so much against slashing. So, It’s a solid weapon to counter a lot of enemies.

In terms of gear pairing, the Wolf Spider armor set is pretty good. These improve the Dash Strike, which all Dual Wield Weapons get.Plus you get the Rogue bonus of the triple attack. The set better fits the daggers though, because of the poison synergy, but it’s no big deal.

This should help you with the building and using the Ice Sickles in Grounded 2 to their potential. Good luck with your new unique weapons and defeating some of the Tier 2 and Enemies coming up.
