After completing the main quest Memory Fragment you’ll meet a shai named Rulupee will send a cat to guide you to the next main quest objective (during the main quest Reunion) and mention you coming to visit their village. Rulupee does mention that visiting may be tricky however, as you’ll find if you actually attempt to make good on the shai’s offer of hospitality! Pororin Location¶
Pororin lies quite a ways southeast of Hernand city, south of the “Unicorn Cliffs” text on the map, southeast of the “Hernand Highlands” text. When you start seeing weird urns hanging from the trees you know you’re close. The shai village is actually a fairly large area, comprising three locations markers - Pororin itself is the easternmost part of the village, Florindale is to the north and Petalton Workshop is the southernmost.
There’s not a lot of guesswork when it comes to reaching the shai village - they’ll likely find you before you find them, and they’re keen on keeping their homes Kliff will suddenly collapse, a scene will play where two shai come observe their handiwork before dragging you to a campsite to the west of their village. Do this three times in total and eventually a shai named Arkin will show up when you wake up and offer to help you get into town… if you do a job for her, first. Somebody stole something belonging to “the chief” and put it on the head of Arkin’s friend. You need to recover this precious item before the chief misses it. This starts the first part of the quest Trembling Woods, “The Unreachable Village”.
Head east and climb the treant,
and grab the Pororin Relic from its head.
The Unreachable Village - Retrieve the Relic of Pororin¶
To rendezvous with Arkin near the next phase of the quest, you’ll need to head a fair ways east, near the Trembling Gorge location. As you approach you may witness a sight that helps make a sense of Arkin’s task - a massive treant is stomping around here! Find Arkin on a high rock and talk to her, who will basically just confirm that the chief’s item is on the treant’s head.
Chase down the massive walking tree as it roams around and once you reach it you’ll need to climb to its head. This can take a lot of stamina, and there are no places to rest during the climb (although consumables may be used to restore stamina, if you have them). Alternatively you can wait until the treant passes some high ground and try to jump and glide onto it, but this too uses stamina. Jump onto and climb up the treant (Shadow of the Colossus vibes here) and climb to its head, where you’ll find the Pororin Relic that Arkin wants back. This completes “The Unreachable Village” and begins the next objective, “Authorized Access”.
Report back to Arkin and she’ll reward you, promising you access to the shai village,
which she delivers on - the area is yours to explore!
Authorized Access¶
Once you have the relic, just return to Arkin and she’ll reward you and tell you that she’ll make sure you can visit the shai village, completing the quest. Sure enough, you’ll be able to pass unmolested on your next visit, albeit without any fanfare, allowing you to access a new Dyehouse and talk to NPCs to start new quests, among other points of interest. More importantly, you won’t be incapacitated when running near the area anymore!
