Twisted Thicketway Puzzle Guide - Abyss Kutum Boss Guide
Find the Goldleaf Traitor - Extinguish the Last Flames Walkthrough
When you first visit the city of Hernand you’ll find several notices posted on the notice board which start some introductory side quests. These are, frankly, little more than tutorials meant to introduce you to gameplay staples like felling trees, mining or and cooking food, and while they’re well worth doing just for their roles as tutorials, (the extra inventory space doesn’t hurt either!), one of these quests, Renee’s Request can be a little obtuse. This page will provide a walkthrough for the aforementioned quest to help you get cooking in Crimson Desert!

Read Renee’s Notice after completing two other side quests,
then go talk to Renee to properly start the quest and get the Recipe: Fish Porridge.
Starting Renee’s Request¶
You’ll have to do a little bit of legwork before you can actually start this quest, as it won’t be available until after you complete the quests Rhett’s Request and Turnali’s Request, which task you with getting some Iron Ores and Fine Lumber, respectively. Once those are done, return to the notice board near the Inn in Hernand and you’ll find “Renee’s Poster” waiting for you.
Pick up the notice and read it to start the quest, then go find Renee at her butcher shop along the southern edge of Hernand, down the road to the south of the inn. Talk to her and she’ll ask you to cook some three bowls of Fish Porridge, and will give you the Recipe: Fish Porridge and the ingredients you need to cook it, including Fish Fillet x15, Wheat x5, Salt x5 and Water x15.
Examine a nearby “Bonfire”, then interact with it to start cooking.
You want to cook the plain Fish Porridge - don’t improvise, and don’t cook any of the more potent recipes!
Cooking Fish Porridge¶
Now that you have the quest started and the ingredients in hand, you just need to find a place to cook. This might be the first stumbling block for some players, since the game doesn’t tell you what you need to do here, and barring trial and error you may not have discovered how to actually cook anything on your own. You don’t need a special tool for it, like the Pickaxe or Logging Axe you needed for the previous two quests, but you do need to find a Bonfire… well, what the game calls a Bonfire, anyways. You can find one just northwest of Renee - walk up to it, hold up your lantern by holding and examine the Bonfire until you study it. This will mark it on your map - not necessary, but useful.
Interact with the Bonfire and pick the “Cook” option, then scroll over to the “Field Pot Cooking” menu. As with many things in Crimson Desert, this can be needlessly complex at first, as there aren’t usually set ingredients required for any dish and there are usually numerous variants of each meal you can cook. You don’t need to use the wheat Renee gave you, for example, they can be replaced with any “Oats” - you can even improvise!
To cut through the clutter and cook the correct dish, make sure you’ve selected the one that says “Fish Porridge (FIsh Fillet)” - it should take the following ingredients: Oats x1, Fish Fillet x2, Salt x1, Water x3. Making the higher-tier dishes will not count towards the three FIsh Porridges you need to cook for Renee. If you’re in doubt, save your game before cooking anything - and make sure you’re read the recipe Renee gave you, in case the recipe isn’t appearing as expected!
When you have three plain Fish Porridges in hand, return to Renee to complete the quest, earning +30 Contribution and a Medium Bag as a reward.
