How to Enter the Shai Village - Trembling Woods Walkthrough
Near the end of Chapter 2 you’ll be dragged into a power struggle within the Goldleaf Merchant Guild, but even when your preferred candidate takes power, it’s not all smooth sailing for the merchant guild. Shakatu suspects treachery, asking you to investigate for him, and this page will help you uncover the conspiracy during the quest Extinguish the Last Flames in Crimson Desert!

Talk to Shakatu and he’ll tell you about a suspected traitor, asking you to investigate.
Troubled Shakatu¶
To start this quest you’ll need to head to the Goldleaf Guildhouse along the eastern end of the Hernand Highlands, south of the “Unicorn Cliff” text on the map. Approach Shakatu, who is lording it up over the merchant guild you helped him bring to heel, and talk to him. He’ll do another walk and talk before informing you of his suspicions. This will complete the first objective of the quest Extinguish the Last Flames and in the process opening up five more objectives. You’ll generally need to go talk to the person mentioned in the objective name and pick up several pieces of evidence.
Nogle, the Trade Manager¶
Nogle is an easy target - you’ll find him in the same camp as Shakatu, just a short distance to the east. Talk to him and listen to his complaints - he’ll reluctantly point the finger at Grimzle. After the short conversation, examine a Broken Barrel off to the side and search under the tent to find a Tax Notice and a Tavern Ledger. Be sure to read them before moving onto your next objective.
Skrav, the Trade Manager¶
The furthest target from the Goldleaf Guildhouse, you’ll find Skrav a fair ways northwest, across the Nas River, at the Goldleaf Trading Post along the road. Talk to Skrav and he’ll cast aspersions on Nogle for divulging information on the Goldleaf Guild’s trade routes. A bit of a complication, but remember, Nogle told this information to Grimzle, so this information leaking to bandits could still be Grimzle’s fault. In any event, once the short conversation is over, search a crate behind a textile stall to find a Trade Schedule Log, while the Lantern on Ground can be found near the wares displayed in the middle of the camp (near the full suit of armor) and finally search some crates near Groks, the proprietor of the “Trade Goods Black Market” to find the Stacked Trade Goods.
Kathan, the Goldleaf Private Soldier¶
Another target close to Shakatu, Kathan can be found just outside the enclosure where Shaktus dwells. Talk to him and he’ll mention that a ledge under Grimzle’s care went missing, and nobody saw a culprit. Another datapoint against Grimzle. Now for the evidence nearby - find and read a Guard’s Letter on a crate near an anvil west of Kathan, find a Guard’s Report on a crate near a white tent, and finally head down a road southwest from this small encampment until you find a wagon just off the road. Search this Damaged Wagon to complete this last objective involving Kathan.
Blique, the Horse Manager¶
Seek out Blique at Bloomwood Ranch, which is north, northwest of the Goldleaf Guildhouse, also across the Nas River - just down the road from where you met Skrav at the Goldleaf Trading Post. Talk to him and he’ll mention some ne’er-do-wells with bad eyes came to requisition horses, and although they were masked, he recognized one of them - suggesting it was an inside job. After talking to Blique, enter the nearby house and search a chest in the corner of the house, behind the door, to find the Feed Purchase Receipt. A Horse Hire Ledger can be found on a table, and an Old Saddle on the floor can be found opposite the Feed Purchase Receipt. Be sure to read the ledger and the receipt.
Grimzle, the Ledger Master¶
Last on the list is Grimzle, who can be found northeast of the Goldleaf Guildhouse, near the Coalvale Workshop. Talk to him and he’ll blame Skrav for the guild’s woes. He’s also kinda snotty in general, but he just got demoted for the theft of his ledger, so that might explain his mood. Enter the building he’s standing in front of and search a round table to find a Merchant Delivery Seal on it. The Empty Ledger can be found on a rectangular table further in the building, but to find the final bit of evidence you’ll need to leave this building and enter another building to the southeast. Search a table in the corner to find the Proof of Stay. Be sure to read/inspect all these items.
Close Threat¶
Now that you’ve talked to everybody and collected all the evidence, it’s time to return to Shakatu and work out who is to blame. You’ll have to select a suspect from the menu to the right and pick a piece of evidence that gets you closer to the truth. Here’s what you need to pick:
- Blique’s Testimony: Horse Hire Ledger
- Skrav’s Testimony: Trade Schedule Log
- Nogle’s Testimony: Tavern Ledger
- Grimzle’s Testimony: Proof of Stay
- Kathan’s Testimony: Guard’s Report
After presenting this evidence, Shakatu will conclude who the traitor is and you’ll need to go back to Coalvale Workshop to apprehend him. Just go behind the building where you talked to Grimzle earlier and the traitor will conveniently be cackling about his scheme. Kliff will smack the traitor around, so you don’t even need to catch him - just tie him up, pick him up, and walk all the way back up to the Goldleaf Guildhouse. Just follow the road south to the Sanctum of Temperance, then west to the Bloodhum House and from there find another road that’ll run up to the Hernand Highlands. It’s a fair trek, but it shouldn’t be dangerous, just tedious. Bring the traitor back to Shakatu to complete the quest and earn Contribution +100.
