Throughout Pywel you’ll find various ruins scattered around which house Abyss Cressets - solve the puzzles in these ruins and you’ll obtain an Abyss Artifact, which you can use to upgrade skills or gear. This page will cover the puzzle for the “Meandering Hills Ruins” Abyss Cresset, providing a solution for the puzzle there in Crimson Desert.

Finding the Meandering Hills Ruins¶
To get access to this particular Abyss Cresset you will need to complete some main quests at the start of Chapter 2, including Where the Light Leads and Memory Fragment before starting Reunion. During this third quest, you’ll be stopped by a Shai named Rulupee as you try to leave the newly-liberated Lioncrest Watchtower, after which you’ll need to follow a black cat to the north to some ruins. There are the Meandering Hills Ruins.
When you arrive, hold 
to examine a ghostly form outside the ruins to learn the skill “Nature’s Grasp”. Once done, approach the wall you saw the the ghostly figure raising and press 
+ 
to use your newfound skill to open the wall and reveal the chamber within. This is where the puzzle awaits you, and since it’s gated by main quest progression it may very well be the first Abyss Cresset puzzle you encounter. In any event, you’ll have to solve this puzzle, simple as it is, to progress further. Before that, however, enter the chamber and examine another ghostly figure by holding down to learn another new skill, “Focus”. This doesn’t play an immediate role in solving this puzzle, so we won’t dwell on it.
Solving the Meandering Hills Ruins Puzzle¶
On the wall opposite of where you entered you’ll find three plates, the leftmost of which has a glowing line running through it, while the center plate is sticking out and the other two are depressed. As is standard for Crimson Desert, the game doesn’t explain what you’re supposed to do, but the solution is to press all three plates so they’re depressed, which will allow the blue line to spread across the three plates and into the “wire” beyond - view it as some sort of magical electrical circuit.
To do this you’ll have to use “Force Palm” on any plates that aren’t depressed, but doing so will cause any adjacent plates to pop out. Pretty simple puzzle which you’ve probably solved variants of before in other games (a typical example being a grid of torches - when you light or snuff ones, adjacent torches will change state as well). Here’s how to solve this puzzle:
- Hit the central plate with Force Palm. This will depress the central plate and pop out the left and right plates.
- Smack the rightmost plate with Force Palm to depress it. The central plate will now pop out.
- Strike the leftmost plate with Force Palm. This will depress both it and the central plate, completing the circuit and solving the puzzle.
Once the puzzle is solved the Abyss Cresset outside will light up. Head outside and grab it to complete the quest and get an Abyss Artifact. Note that you can also use solved Abyss Cressets as fast travel points.
