Arboria Forest Ruins Puzzle Solution
This page will provide a walkthrough for the “Steel Mountains Ruins” Abyss Cresset Puzzle in Crimson Desert, including its location on the map and pictures showing you who to solve the bells puzzle
Page Breakdown¶
You’ll find the Steel Mountains Ruins northwest of the “Steel Mountains” text on the map, near the Spire of Insight.
Steel Mountains Ruins Location¶
The Steel Mountains Ruins Abyss Cresset puzzle can be found, not surprisingly, somewhat near the Steel Mountains, which are near the coast a fair distance southeast of Hernand city, with Godleaf Guildhouse being roughly the halfway point between the two. The closest landmark is the Spire of Insight, which is just southeast of these ruins. You’re looking for some shai decorations - flowers and pots, mostly - decorating some cliffs.
Steel Mountains Ruins Puzzle Solution¶
The main feature of this puzzle are two rows of bells, four bells to a row, built into a cubby along the cliff face. Each of these bells has a rune inscribed into the rune above it, denoting what note the bell will play when struck. Fortunately there’s also a Mallet sitting on an altar near the bells. Pick the Mallet up, equip it, then make sure you have it in hand, as you’ll need to strike the bells with this mallet to get them to sing for you. Do this by holding to aim, then press
to strike.
Before you start thrashing bells for no good reason, you need to know what bells to play and in which order. Fortunately there’s a board to the left of the bells with three rows of notes displayed. You need to play these in order, from right to left, top to bottom. Naturally these notes correspond to the symbols above the bells.
You will need to hit the bells in this order: 1-2-3-4-5-6-4-3-2-1.
Once done, a wall to the right will lower and reveal the Abyss Cresset!
Return to the bells and compare the symbols on the board to the symbols above the bells and for the sake of simplicity let’s just number the bells, with the bell to the upper left being 1, with 2, 3, and 4 being the bells to the right, in order, then repeat the process on the lower row, with 5 being the leftmost bell. You should notice that the symbols on the board never reference the lower rightmost two bells, so we can ignore them and focus on the six bells that we actually have to strike.
Given our numbering convention, then, you need to play the notes in order: 1-2-3-4-5-6-4-3-2-1. Use the provided image to help, if necessary. You don’t need to play the notes terribly fast - in fact, you have time to peek back and the board, if you need to. Once you’ve played them all in the correct order, they’ll echo in a tone that should sound fairly familiar… in any event, this will also cause a secret wall to lower nearby, revealing the Abyss Cresset. Go loot it for an Abyss Artifact, a much easier way to obtain this reward than the nearby Spire of Insight!
