How to Capture Blix Alive - Blix Bounty
You’ll find an awful lot of busywork while exploring Pywel - Crimson Desert is, for better or worse, replete with your standard open-world fare, including puzzles, camps of enemies to cull, resources to collect and minigames to play. What makes exploration worthwhile, however, is the opportunity to find unmarked dungeons and other points of interest that house exceptional loot. Gear is not just Skittles-colored stat sticks in Crimson Desert, and with enough gumption (and some directions), you can end up finding excellent gear quite early in the game! To that end, this page will discuss how to find the Darkbringer two-handed sword in Crimson Desert!

You’ll find the Darkbringer at the White Wastes Sanctuary along the northwestern edge of the map.
Darkbringer Location¶
To get your hands on a decidedly superior melee weapon, you’ll have to travel far from the comfortable environs of Hernand, to the Pailune region along the northwestern corner of the map. This isn’t a simple expedition into the borderlands of Pailune, either - your prize awaits in the more mountainous northwestern bits. Specifically you’ll find it at the White Wastes Sanctuary location, west, northwest of the “Silver Wolf Mountains” text on the map, northeast of the (smaller) “Five-Finger Mountain” text.
There are quite a few ways to go about reaching this location, none of them particularly quick or simple. We’d advise against traveling through Pailune as much as possible, as the ferocious Black Bear enemies dwell there, although you’ll probably want to run past most foes you face, as they’re quite dangerous up in these parts of the world. A convenient landmark you can use are rivers - there’s a river east of Hernand City that runs northeast between Rocca’s Hill and Anvil Hill (to the west and east, respectively), which eventually bends northward and runs in that direction across much of the map.
From a nearby Abyss Nexus, trek west to find a pit with a large skeleton inside of it,
and pry this weapon from its skull.
Follow this river north, one of your objectives being the letter “E” in “PAILUNE” on the map. Just north of here the river will fork - not for the first time - and you’ll want to switch from following the river north to following another river to the west. As you go, try to avoid any fights and the numerous hostile camps, forts and cities located in the region, hopping between banks of the river to shake pursuit or simply running/riding past enemies as the situation warrants.
You’ll want to follow this second river west until you reach a lake, on the northern shore of which is the town of Odeck, which is east, northeast of your destination. From here you’ll want to head west, southwest from Odeck towards the mountains towards your destination, and along the way you may just pass by the Verheim Ruins and Gorgeside Hearth, the latter of which is just east of your destination.
Along the way you may also want to pick up some convenient Abyss Nexuses which will serve as fast travel waypoints, ensuring that you keep any progress you make, no matter what unfortunate accidents you may incur. A list of such waypoint located en route to your destination can be found below:
| Abyss Nexus | Map Marker |
|---|---|
| Northeast of Arboria Castle | Map Marker |
| Hernand North Gate | Map Marker |
| Drakesfall Castle | Map Marker |
| Beighen Candlery | Map Marker |
| Skallcove | Map Marker |
| Odeck | Map Marker |
| White Wastes Sanctuary | Map Marker |
This isn’t an exhaustive list - there are other, more dangerous Abyss Nexuses on the way - but these should give you a few checkpoints along the way. Just be sure to bring food along with you so incidental damage doesn’t become a problem and note that you will be exposed to the elements the further north you go, which will reduce your stamina recovery. Probably not a big deal - it didn’t deter us - but worth keeping in mind.
When you reach the Abyss Nexus near White Wastes Sanctuary, you just need to head a bit west, climb over some rocks and you’ll find a pit with a large skeletal humanoid in it. Fortunately this critter is long since dead, so jump onto its rib cage and pull the sword Darkbringer out of its skull.
The Darkbringer has some pretty hefty stats, and Ator’s Orb will deal supplemental damage when you use heavy attacks!
Darkbringer Stats¶
Darkbringer starts out with a respectable refinement level of IV - just enough before upgrades start consuming Abyss Artifacts. It has a base Attack of 22 and has Critical Rate Lv3 and Attack Speed Lv1. As far as two-handed swords go, it has moderate attack speed with somewhat limited AoE, performing responsive sweeps when you swing - a fairly average weapon with exceptional stats. That said, it has three Abyss Gear installed from the start, two which boost Attack Speed and Critical Rate and “Ator’s Orb”, which causes the weapon to discharge orbs that track and damage enemies when you perform heavy attacks .
| Refinement | Attack | Critical Rate | Attack Speed |
|---|---|---|---|
| I | 16 | Lv3 | Lv1 |
| II | 18 | Lv3 | Lv1 |
| III | 20 | Lv3 | Lv1 |
| IV | 22 | Lv3 | Lv1 |
| V | 24 | Lv3 | Lv1 |
| VI | 27 | Lv3 | Lv1 |
| VII | 30 | Lv3 | Lv1 |
| VIII | 33 | Lv3 | Lv1 |
| IX | 36 | Lv3 | Lv1 |
| X | 39 | Lv4 | Lv1 |
All in all, a versatile weapon that’s likely more damaging than anything a low-level character has access to, and the supplemental damage from Ator’s Orb certainly calls for you to use heavy attacks whenever possible!
