What are Timeloops?¶
Timeloops are large, black, spherical objects that you’ll find in each location. Each Timeloop is too dangerous to enter until you defeat every Timeloop Guardian. There can be around ten or so guardians you’ll need to defeat before you enter one; however, you will find them all within that zone. Once you’ve defeated all the Timeloop Guardians, you will need to enter the Timeloop itself and close the loop.
Note that standing too close to the center (where the event is happening) will damage you and kill you should you stay in it too long. To stop the loop, you’ll need to place a Key Item into the Drone, which will close the loop. After closing the loop, return to the NPC, Gildas Brom, located in the Watcher’s Nest, Vyssa Hills, to report that you’ve closed the loop. This will grant you excellent and unique rewards, including powerful glyphs or relics.
Once all Timeloop Guardians are defeated, you’ll be able to enter the Timeloop.
Timeloop Guardians and How to Find Them¶
Before you can enter a Timeloop, you’ll need to defeat all Timeloop Guardians scattered around the map. There are a lot of these, and they look a lot like the regular enemies you’ll be fighting here. When you defeat one, you’ll get a notification telling you that you defeated a Timeloop Guardian.
When you’ve defeated all of them, you’ll hear a unique sound indicating that all of them have been defeated. The easiest way to find the Guardians is by equipping the Guardian Detector that Gildas gives you on your quick slots, and when used, it’ll point toward the nearest Timeloop Guardian. You don’t have to use this, but it’ll save you a lot more time.
Timeloop Guardians can be found anywhere within the zone, and they look like regular creatures.
However, when you defeat them, a notification will let you know you’ve defeated one.
How to Close Timeloops¶
The first Timeloop you’ll find is in the Acasa Marshes, and although you can defeat the Timeloop Guardians and enter the Timeloop, you won’t be able to close it yet. The reason for this is that you will need an Amine Prism. The first one is obtained from Gilda Brom after completing the Watcher’s Rest puzzle, but for the rest of them, you will need to find them by completing puzzles throughout the game.
There are three types of Timeloop, Thêta, Sigma and Rhô, and you’ll need to use the correct type of Amine Prism to close it. This can be done by interacting with your drone, which will position itself in front of the Timeloop, and selecting the correct Amine Prism. Once done, you’ll need to defeat a boss that ranges from easy to difficult depending on the Timeloop.
After the boss is defeated, the Timeloop will close, and you can head back to Gildas Brom to turn it in, rewarding you with powerful glyphs and relics. Note that the first Timeloop in Vyssa Hills won’t have a boss, as it’s more of a tutorial than a real Timeloop.
That’s it for the basics of how Timeloops work. You’ll want to do these as the rewards are more than worth it, and there is an achievement for closing them all.
