How to get the Beaver Stick
The Katana is one of those weapon types that makes a return no matter what version of Dying Light you’re playing. However, the method of getting it in Dying Light: The Beast is a little weird. Here’s how to get the Katana in Dying Light The Beast.

How to get the Katana¶
As it stands, there’s only one dedicated Katana in Dying Light the Beast. It is a legendary weapon that only spawns on rotation from the vendors. The Katana is named The Legacy, and it has a small chance for players to be able to get it during stock inventory refreshes.
By the looks of things, both the Town Hall vendor and the Exiles Cave vendor can stock it. Albeit randomly. When the weapon does pawn in, it will cost 2000 Old World Money to purchase it, so make sure you have enough on you to purchase it when it does spawn in.
In terms of tricks, there’s a few ways to manually refresh the store.
- You can run a distance away
- Log out of your save and back in again
Option 1 is probably the easiest from Doug. Run out of the Town Hall, head straight forward and go down the stairs. There’s a fountain down there. Go through the fountain then double back, and that typically refreshes the store distance. Go back in, and check Doug to see what he sells now.
You can do something similar with Exiles Cave trader where that unlocks. Run out of the cave, head down the main road and double back when you reach the convoy to refresh the stock.
Alternatively save at a bed in either the Town Hall or Exiles Cave and check the stock, log out and log back into force to refresh the game’s inventory again.
Player Trading & Other Alternatives¶
Some players in the Dying Light: The Beast Discord server are willing to trade spare The Legacy Katana’s. If you’re not already in it, join the Discord, and share what platform you are on. You might get lucky and a player who can cross platform play with you may share a spare one with you.
The other thing I want to note is that the other are some alternatives to the Katana-like profile. Katanas tend to be faster one handed swinging weapons. The Sabre weapons offer that type of profile. You can find one in the sewers where the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles easter egg. It’s only a gray common sabre, but it’s an option. There’s also the legendary weapon outside the Town Hall that you can use for a sabre alternative too.
Also, you may consider getting The Rust blueprint from the Highway Safe Zone ion the Industrial zone. This is a long sword weapon type, which is also what The Legacy is. The animations between each weapon is slightly different But, if you want that sword weapon style, then the Rust is a blueprint you can get, upgrade to legendary and mod. It’s fairly strong, and probably my favorite weapon I completed the game with.
