How to get Feathers

Feathers are one of the most important crafting materials you will need in Dying Light: The Beast, especially if you’re intending on running an archery build. The bow is one of the best weapons in the game, especially when it’s combined with the charged shot skill to deal some incredible headshot damage. But, to craft arrows, you are going to need a lot of feathers. Here’s how to get feathers in Dying Light: The Beast for your crafting needs.

Tradres often restock feathers fairly often, and be be bused by saving your game and logging out of your campaign and back in for easy to purchase feathers. Image via Gamer Guides / Techland.

You can also find feathers in bird boxes in Old Town, inside animal pens in the farmlands, and on several of the hunter towers safe spots in National Park and other areas of the map. Image via Gamer Guides / Techland.

How to Get Feathers

These are the best tips to get feathers:

  1. Buy from traders
  2. Check bird houses in Old Town on various rooftops.
  3. Kill and scavenge enemies in National Park
  4. Animal Barns in the Farmlands area
  5. Dark Zones for clothing stores or nature markets

Traders are often the main source of getting feathers, or any other basic crafting item for that matter. There are two traders in the game, and both sell feathers. You have Doug in the Town Hall, and then the other trader in Exiles Cave, which unlocks in the mid game. When you get to a trader, you can typically buy like five feathers per store refresh. Spend your coins on the Feathers, and then you log out and into your save to buy more feathers if you wish. You’ll need a bit of cash reserve to do this, but it works fine.

The other method is bird houses in Old Town. Quite a few rooftops which have flat patio areas often have bird boxes on posts and walls. These are ways to get feathers. You can find them around the apartment rooftops to the left of the railway for example Map Marker. If you need other feather pickups, the watch towers in national parks tend to have them, as do other building loot around the national park.

Speaking of the national park, we at Gamer Guides are fairly convinced that drop rates are affected based on where you are on the map. The National Park is more nature-focused, and so I find that you can get more feathers from looting zombies, alongside materials like resin too. So, if you’re in that area, make sure to loot the zombies you kill for better loot drop percentage for feathers and resin, and other nature-focused crafting items for that matter.

The other big hotspot is the farmlands. As you explore the farmlands, follow the farm roads, and you should come across various barn-type structures. Feathers tend to spawn in these. See the ones around the main road going to where the Vale is on the map.

Our final suggestion is to go to Dark Zones. The Dark Zones that specialize in general store items like the nature markets, and the clothing store ones tend to offer more textile, mixed items, which the Feathers seem to associate with. So, you can get better odds of finding feathers among the random loot. Pharmacies can drop feathers, but you’re more likely to get Oxidizers, batteries, and cleaning supplies from them instead. Meanwhile, the residential Dark Zones are largely scraps, rags, alcohol and valuables. You can get feathers from them, but the loot table is much more widely spread, so it is less reliable.

Hopefully, you can get feathers in Dying Light: The Beast following these methods for your arrow crafting needs!
