How Coop Progression works in The Beast
Dying Light: The Beast is here and with it, the four-player parkour fun times are back. Players can play up to four-player co-op online, recruiting players as party games or with the SOS feature when players are really stuck at specific points of a game. However, like the previous titles, you need to do a bit of work before you can unlock co-op and play with friends in Dying Light: The Beast.

How to play with friends and unlock co-op¶
To unlock co-op and play with friends in Dying Light: The Beast, you need to play through the opening main story missions and then go to the co-op menu. These are as follows:
- Complete the Rise and Shine mission
- Complete the Safe Haven mission
- Open up the pause menu and check the co-op tab
- Invite friends to your lobby
You start the game in the lab, working through the Rise and Shine to get to grips with the game’s backdrop, with the inciting incident. You then work with your mysterious mate to get out of the lab. Once you escape the lab, you then start the Safe Haven quest. This will establish the first safe house in the game, and teach you about the new Chimera feature and how the new skill tree works.
From there, speak to Olivia and learn more about what is going on with the game’s backstory and Kyle Crane’s current state. After that, you’ll complete the quest and get the rewards like the Binoculars, some lockpicks, money and XP to get to level 2. You’ll then get the next quest, Life After Life, which will give you the ability to progress the game as normal. You’ll then be able to invite friends to your co-op save and start playing cooperatively.
Make sure that you have your online settings feature set to online, private or friends only before trying co-op though. You’ll need one of these three settings enabled, otherwise the game will be set to offline single-player mode for the time being and no one will be able to join.
