How to Throw Weapons
The Beast Within Walkthrough
Like in most RPGs, there is some form of rarity to the weapons system in the games. Dying Light: The Beast is no different, with it having the blue, purple and yellow weapon quality status. The yellow quality weapon status means legendary in this game. For the most part, nearly everything can be a legendary in this game, thanks to the unique field manual system that lets you upgrade your blueprints from common, to blue, to purple and then to legendary. However, there are some weapons and blueprints that can only be unlocked doing different tasks, and that is what we are focused on today. Here’s a look at how to get all legendary weapons and blueprints in Dying Light: The Beast.

Lost hand of Glova (consumable)¶
Walk across the train tracks near the Monastery and look for this Harry Potter Easter Egg. Walk through the easter egg to enter a secret area and then follow it along to reach the weapon. Image via Gamer Guides / Techland.
This is a reference to the previous Techland games, with it continuing the Glova references from the previous titles. You can get this at the start of the game.
- From the Monastery, go east, across the railway track.
- GO to the collapsed tunnel, and you find 9 3/4 written on the wall. This Harry Potter easter egg will allow you to walk through it.
- Behind that, you will get a minecraft easter egg, where you need to hit the blocks with any weapon to break through. Continue through the corridor.
- You will then enter a golden train room.
- Climb to the top of the train room and then grab the Left Hand of Glova from the train along with unlocking its blueprint.
The weapon is a consumable that essentially is a form of magic attack, which will slowly start casting, and then detonating around where you’re looking at. It’s rather strong. You will need to craft it like you would molotovs and grenades.
The Elite (Pistol)¶
This is one of the earliest legendary weapon you can find in the game. Image via Gamer Guides / Techland.
This is one can be grabbed right at the start of the game. You need to do the following:
- Go east from the back of the Monastery
- Walk across the bridge over the waterfall river.
- Kill the military biter and grab the keycard.
- Go back onto the bridge and open the door with the keycard.
- Inside should be The Elite pistol.
For map reference, you can find it on our interactive map here: Map Marker
The Needle (SMG)¶
Players can get the needle really early on and upgrade this legendary SMG as they go. Image via Gamer Guides / Techland.
Again, this is another early game legendary weapon if you want to grab it. It is part of the reward for the Treasure Map A1, which you get from a sheet on a picnic platform near the Mountain Inn in the National Park:
- Go east from the monastery (or from the Elite if you’ve read the legendary guide above this one).
- Walk over to where the picnic bench icon is on the map and get the treasure note
- Continue southeast from the road till you reach the park ranger building.
- Power the fuse box to the south of that building by dragging a cable from the shed to its west.
- Power up and defend yourself from the infected and Virals that come to you who are alerted by the garage doors opening up.
- Enter the garage when it is complete and lockpick the hard lock door at the back
- Inside is the Needle and around 40 rounds of SMG ammunition, among other craftables.
Clupaga (one-handed axe)¶
Look above the window for this otherwise hard to see weapon blending into the wood work. Image via Gamer Guides / Techland.
If you want an one handed axe as part of your build, then the Clupaga is an option for you.
- Make your way to the large inn in the National Park (opposite the Needle if you read the one above.)
- Climb up to the roof of the building
- Go to the east wall, and you’ll find a window. Look above the window and you should find the axe hanging on the wall above the window.
Spas Decoy (Gadget)¶
This is a really good supportive gadget to use alongside your weapons. Image via Gamer Guides / Techland.
This is a blueprint gadget that is awarded at legendary quality, and is a unique quest reward. The gadget is essentially a fire cracker, but has better attraction range, duration, and can even trick Virals, which the Firecrackers don’t. It’s great for grabbing attention for other mass gadget antics or weapon cleaving.
To grab this, you need:
- Complete the main story up to Power Gambit and reactivate the power station for the Town Hall community.
- Head back to the Town Hall, and start the Dead Beats quest.
- Complete the Dead Beasts quest, then rest up to get the trigger for the Good Vibrations quest.
- Track the Good Vibrations quests and complete it.
- Completing it awards the Spas Decoy blueprint.
The Breslau Blade (One-Handed Saber)¶
You need to shoot the 9 different sigils dotted around the main room of the Town Hall to unlock this weapon. Image via Gamer Guides / Techland.
The Breslau Blade is a strange one which players can get at any point in the Town Hall. It’s a bit of a secret, but it requires you to hit all the 9 symbols scattered around the town hall.
The sigil locations are as follows:
- 2 on the statue itself
- Others around the walls
- Check near the ceiling of the main town hall for sigils high above the walkways.
- When you find them all, you should hear some fireworks.
- Go to the statue and the saber should be loose. You will get the weapon and the blueprint for it too.
Strauss & Broda (Machete)¶
You gotta tap this metal case after clearing the Dark Zone out to get this easter egg weapon. Image via Gamer Guides / Techland.
The Strauss and Broda is a machete that you can get when you start progressing into the Industrial Zone part of the game around level 6. To get the machete, you need to do a easter egg to get it. You need to do the following:
Go to the Nate Market Dark Zone in the small little Industrial settlement, where you get the safe zone from Olivia from the MSQ.
- Go east from there and visit the Dark Zone.
- Enter and reach the south part of the Dark Zone.
- You should come across a small white metal container in one of the rooms.
- It will have a prompt to knock on it.
- Knock 77 times to open it and get the legendary weapon and blueprint.
Sunray (Revolver)¶
You can find the legendary revolver in the safe at the northernmost mansion in the Villa region. You might as well use this to get the trophy related to the revolver too! Image via Gamer Guides / Techland.
The Sunray is a legendary weapon that you can find in a shelter in the Villa area.
- Go to the Villa area, and head to the northern edge of the main yellow road along the Golden Pine road.
- Go to the house directly left of the steering wheel icon.
- Enter the building and visit the bathroom for a fuse
- Use the fuse inside the bunker to open the gate.
- Now you need to open the safe inside, which is 2-2-19
- inside the safe you should be able to grab the Sunray legendary revolver.
IGA (One-handed Mace)¶
You can find the legendary tennis racket in one of the mansions in The Villa region. Image via Gamer Guides / Techland.
This legendary one handed mace is a tennis racket. The weapon requires you to do the following:
- Go to the Villa area.
- Head down towards the Golden Pine part of the map and check the mansion immediately to the west of the roundabout on the southern side of the Golden Pine.
- Climb up to the top window of the house and enter the building.
- You should find a side wall near a door frame with the tennis racket on the wall.
Tempered Crowbar (Blueprint)¶
Climb to the top of the sewage silos in the farmlands and then look for this legendary quality blueprint. Image via Gamer Guides / Techland.
During the mission that Olivia sends to you to the Sewage treatment plant in the Farmlands region you can do some optional parkouring.
- Head to the western sewage treatment silos on site and climb up.
- You should reach one with the Tempered Crowbar at the top of the silo near a corpse.
The blueprint gives you a legendary crowbar you can craft at a workbench.
The Statement (Shotgun)¶
You can get a legendary shotgun from a farmhouse no less. Image via Gamer Guides / Techland.
The statement is a legendary shotgun that you can get from the Farmlands, near the edge of the map.
To grab it, you need to do:
- Head towards the Pembroke part of the map.
- Look for a garage near the L-shaped building along the white road near the yellow main road on the map.
- Enter the garage building by restoring the power to it.
- The shotgun should be lying on the workbench inside.
The Eraser (Rifle)¶
The Eraser is a legendary rifle found in an rather hidden part of the farmlands. Image via Gamer Guides / Techland.
This legendary weapon is hidden deep near the edges of the map in the Farmlands. There’s hardly a reason to go down here, which makes it very easily missable.
- Go to The Vale part of the Farmlands region.
- From the main motorway bit, look east for a black road marking which connects with the white road.
- There should be a house towards where those roads meet.
- Now, inside that house, you need to one again power up the bunker to enter it.
- Break the boxes to reveal a crawl space you can enter the building through it.
- You should find a power cable you can pull. Take it to the fuse box above the hatch.
- Once the doors open, grab the cable again and attach it to the doors to open the bunker door.
- Head inside and open the easy lockpick to get the weapon from it.
The Legacy (Katana)¶
An example of what the legendary Katana looks like in game. Image via Gamer Guides / Techland.
A somewhat random chance to get a legendary katana from the trader in the Exile’s Cave. Image via Gamer Guides / Techland.
The Legacy Katana is a one-handed sword modeled as a katana. the weapon is a bit different to all the other legendaries in the game so far.
To get it, it seems a bit RNG. You can purchase it from the trader inside the Exiles Cave for 1336 Old World Money.
It’s pretty decent for parkour and accessory damage, like a ninja. The general idea is you run across rooftops and do parkour attacks or throwable accessories, like th throwing knife I’d guess.
We think you get it after you complete the main story mission - take that as a pinch of salt though as that is the only time we spotted it in the store rotation. If you want to get the weapon through some RNG, we recommend going to the Exiles Cave, checking on the trader. Then log out and back into your save to refresh the store.
Also, this weapon does not have a blueprint. So, you will have to buy the weapon as and when it appears. I also do not know if you can buy the weapon more than once or not.
Mines¶
There are two types of legendary mines that you can find via Treasure Hunts. Image via Gamer Guides / Techland.
There are legendary consumables that you can find throughout the map. There are two types of mines I’m aware of:
- Standard mines that blow up
- Bleeding mines that add bleeding damage to targets
1. Standard Mines Location
The standard mines are inside a treasure room near the freeway safe spot in the Industrial zone.
How to find them:
- Go to where you got the cable to power the Safe Zone
- Look for a hatch next to it
- Open and climb down the hatch
- Inside you’ll find: A weapon mod blueprint, an armored zombie and the legendary quality mines (these respawn)
2. Bleeding Mines Location
The bleeding mines are in another treasure room in the Farmlands.
How to find them:
- Make your way to the Sewage Treatment in the Farmlands
- Travel southeast from it where the bending white road goes over the river (where the yellow road is on the map)
- Find the ruin of a house under construction
- Follow the stairs to the basement
- Avoid the mines littered around
- Enter the vent
- Inside you’ll find another weapon mod blueprint, other item pickups and the legendary quality bleeding mines amongst the corpses (these also respawn)
EXPCalibur (legendary Sword)¶
Here’s where to find all Sigil Stones in Dying Light The Beast. Image via Gamer Guides.
This one is one of the harder weapons to get. To do this, you need to go on a chase for all the Sigil Stone collectibles on the map. The Sigils are scattered in the following locations:
- Death: Inside the crypt below the church in Old Town (visited during the “Best Within” mission)
- Void: From the Monastery, follow the river to the waterfall. Find the foliage-covered path around the waterfall. Look for a deer skull with the Sigil Stone.
- The Moon: East of the Void waterfall location. Find the hidden grove between the waterfall and Ranger Station (south of the entrance, left of the Ranger Station rocks on the map). Look for a moss-covered boulder.
- Witch’s Mark: Stone house at the end of the river in the eastern National Park. Follow the river upstream to its source. (Also accessible during “Vengeance is Mine” mission when exiting the Salt Mine)
- Sacrifice: At the Stonehenge-like structure in National Park. Go south from the abandoned house Safe Zone to find a 5-pillar building. The Sigil is at the rear of the central pillar.
- Blood: Mental Asylum island (Level 11 area). Head north from the northern tip of the lake to find a fountain with the Sigil on it.
- Curse: Villa region, northeast of Memorial Hall toward the “D” in “Golden Pine Park” on the map. Look for a dead tree with a skeleton surrounded by branches and leaves. The Sigil is on the skeleton’s mouth.
- Shadow: Unlock Exile’s Cove by progressing the main story (Jacob’s exile mission in the Villa mountain area). Find the Sigil near the southern exit, marked by a candle, cup, and bowl.
When you have them all, you need to take them to a location in the National Park on a pillar near the main road by the river. Place all the sigils at the stick ends and you should be able to lift EXPcalibur and get the blueprint and weapon from it. This is once again another easter egg from legendary weapons in Dying Light 1.
Beavers Stick¶
We figured a map of the branch locations will help you out getting the legendary beaver easter egg weapons. Image via Gamer Guides.
Okay, this is another crazy one. To do this, you need to go all the way to the left side of the map, by following the river to the far left edge of the river bank. Here, you should find a dam. Now, you also need to complete the dam. TO do this, you need to find branches to complete it. The branches are always across the river banks:
- One is directly opposite the Beaver Dam on the rocks.
- Another directly south from that branch
- Go directly north from the power plant on recreation island and check the river bank to the west of the motor way leading to the industrial zone.
- Go to where it says Beaver Creek on the map (left of the old town on the river.) Now check the long grass on the river bank just below where the creek is on the map.
- On the Mental Asylum map, go to where the cliff is directly west of the Asylum. There’s another along that bank of the river.
- Go to the motorway bridge that goes over the river from National Park and the Farmlands. It is directly under the motorway along the river bank on the National Park side.
Once you have all the sticks, you can finish the beaver dam.
This unlocks a the Beaver’s Dam as a secret safe zone. You can also get a visit from the bober itself and grab the Beaver’s Stick legendary weapon and its blueprint.
Skill Tree Legendaries¶
You can craft legendary grenade launchers and flamethrowers, but you can also find a flamethrower pickup right before the final boss of the main storyline. Image via Gamer Guides / Techland.
In the skill tree, you can unlock two weapon recipes, which are the Flamethrower and the Grenade launcher. Both are very expensive crafts, and are not entirely worth it. You can get a Flamethrower from the final main story mission if you don’t want to craft it. But, we have not found the Grenade launcher.
The grenade launcher is a rather unique weapon, where you can craft UV grenades. Those are very handy for night time farming of volatiles or getting better CC on hordes if you want to make them.
