As you explore the Rhodes Hill Care Center, you will find yourself wandering around the Kitchen early on. As you encounter the Chef, you may also notice a large locked door nearby that you cannot get through. Here’s how to open the locked door in the Kitchen in Resident Evil Requiem’s Rhodes Hill level.

Open the Locked Door Using the Pantry Key

To enter the locked door in the Kitchen, you will need to get your hands on the Pantry Key. This item drops from the Chef, who is extremely difficult to kill. In the early game, you will not be able to kill it. However, after unlocking the East Wing and progressing a little, you can make it much easier to kill it.

Simply follow the level and unlock the East Wing Keycard. This is acquired by completing the West Wing and getting to the Chairman’s Office on the second floor.

When you get the card, enter the new wing and then follow the hallway across. It will take you to an Examination Room, where you will find a new item called the Hemolytic Injector. You’ll get one, with the game suggesting to use it on the Scientist Zombie in that room. You can do that or save it.

Later down the hallway to the right, you’ll find another light zombie like you did in the West Wing. Trick it to get around it. It will take you to a Blood Lab room with a research item to put into the Blood Analyzer. Solve the simple puzzle, and it will unlock the crafting recipe for pistol bullets and the Hemolytic Injector. Craft one using one scrap and 60 Infected Blood, which you can now collect by entering that room.

When you have a spare Injector, return to the Chef. You should notice that he is now patrolling around the Parlor room as part of the trouble getting the East Wing Keycard.

Wait for him to pass near the shortcut to the dark corridor near the Dining Room and sneak up on it. The Injector will kill him in one hit like all other zombies. When it dies, you should get an achievement for killing the Chef. It will also drop the Pantry Key.

Take the Pantry Key to the Kitchen, and you can unlock the locked Kitchen door.

Rewards

Even Leon gets a reward in this room when you character swap later on. Image via Gamer Guides / Capcom

Inside, you’ll find several rewards. One of which even sets Leon up, which is entirely missable. The rewards are as follows:

  • 1x Scrap
  • An Ammo crate (I got 5 handgun ammo) - There’s belief ammo stashes are a bit random on how many rounds you get
  • 1x 12.7x55mm Round
  • Stakeout Takeout Charm - Increases knife power and durability
  • Connoisseur Charm - Located in the locked cabinet inside the Pantry Room which Leon can get. The charm increases firepower on any weapon you attach it to
  • Two buckets of 50 Infected Blood

So, it’s extremely useful for both Leon and Grace to get into that room and get those strong charms. Blades are very good at stabbing zombies or lasting longer to break free from grabs. It’s very handy if you’re doing a no healing run and no crafting run, as Metal Blades are very hard to come by otherwise.

With that said, that concludes all you need to know about the Pantry Key and opening the locked Kitchen door in Resident Evil Requiem’s Rhodes Hill level.
