Dremuchij
Dremuchij (Operation Snake Eater)
Upon entering Dolinovodno, you will see a cutscene of
Snake checking out the soldier by the bridge. He’ll also focus on a hornet’s nest, too, indicating that you should shoot it. Do just that (shoot it with the
Mk22), causing the guard to investigate and run away from the flying pests. The other guard on the bridge will also run away, so you should now be free of enemies for the time being. Note that harassing the enemy with the bees will unlock the Beekeeper trophy/achievement.
Dolinovodno¶
This is a relatively short area, so after taking care of the guard with the hornet’s nest, face the bridge and look up at the left support pillar. Kerotan 4 will be found on top of the pillar, so shoot it and cross the bridge. On the other side, look for the narrow trail that takes you to the cliffside. Hold the analog stick in the direction of the wall to press up against it, then shimmy across the narrow ledge to get to the little alcove. If you fall at all, make sure you press the action button (Triangle) to try and pick yourself back up.
(1 of 5) There is a guard on the southern side of the bridge when you first enter Dolinovodno.
In that little alcove will be the
XM16E1 assault rifle, some Mk22 ammo, and Pentazemin. You’ll want to be quick while doing this, as when you approach the northern path to continue, the guards who ran away might be coming back. One usually patrols the exit here, so knock him out if needed. You can now move onto to Rassvet.
Rassvet¶
This is the area where Sokolov is located, but there are some guards patrolling the place that prevent you from continuing the story. Once you’re in control again, inch forward and keep an eye out for the guard just ahead. When you get the chance, go prone in the nearby grass and just wait. The guard you initially saw will go one way, while another guard from the north will start coming your way. When he’s close enough for you to have a shot, do so to put him to sleep, then wait for the first guard to come back around again.
Upon them both dreaming, move to the north and enter the proper part of the compound. As soon as you do, look south to see an item box next to some crates; this is the
M37 Shotgun. Wait outside the walls until the next guard starts coming your way, then tranq him and look for the hole to the north of the shotgun you picked up. You should see Kerotan 5 upon looking through the hole, so shoot it to collect it. Go up the nearby stairs and peek around the corner to spot another guard.
If you can get him from this angle when he’s not looking, that’s good, but if not, return to the ground and lay in waiting for him. Head to where he was roaming and climb into the building from the short ledge there, where you’ll find a LF Med in the corner. If you didn’t get Bird E earlier, you can look up and find one perched on the beam above you at this spot (much easier here). Find the doorway to the south, which leads to a closed door with Sokolov, but don’t approach it just yet.
On the side of the wall, in between the two ruined buildings, you will find a small opening in the grassy patch, leading to a crawlspace underneath the building with Sokolov. There are a few snakes under here (the Reticulated Pythons), but more importantly, you’ll find a Rat. Kill it with your knife, then grab the item and double back to the door mentioned above. Right outside of the room, on the one shelf by the LF Med, you can find GA-KO 5. Approach the door just mentioned now for a number of cutscenes, after which, you’ll regain control.
When you are close to an unconscious/dead body, you can use Square on an enemy’s body to pick them up. Do this with Ocelot, then drop him immediately afterwards to get him to yield a Mousetrap. Unfortunately, you don’t get to keep it after you finish this section, if you keep it in your inventory. However, if you equip it and set the Mousetrap, then you’ll be able to retrieve it later, as you’ll be coming back to this area not too long from now. Other enemies will usually drop stuff like ammo or health items, so don’t forget about this.
Curing Cuts and Broken Bones¶
You’re done here, so return to Dolinovodno for another series of long cutscenes. Once it’s over, you’ll learn about the Cure menu. Go into your menu and then the Cure sub-menu. You have two types of wounds right now, a broken bone and a cut. For cuts, you need to use Disinfectant, Styptic, Suture Kit, then Bandage. Doing that will heal the wound to 100%, so it’s time to switch over to the broken bone. All you need to do here is Splint and Bandage.
The Cure menu is used for a lot more, like removing a bullet, cure food poisoning, and more. After fixing yourself up, a lot more cutscenes will occur and you’ll begin Operation Snake Eater.
