During the missions in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, you will have to procure your own food. This comes in the form of fruits, animals and plants. Frogs can be notoriously hard to find, since they are all small and usually like to hide in grassy patches. Once you obtain the Thermal Goggles, they can make finding these creatures a lot easier.

Similar to the Tree Frog below, the Otton Frog is another animal that can be a little difficult to find at first. That’s because it tends to stay in grassy patches and it’s small enough to be difficult to see. If you wait until you regain the Thermal Goggles, then that makes things much easier. The first instance of the Otton Frog is in Dremuchij East, the area you first visit at the beginning of Operation Snake Eater. It’s in the tall grass, so you’ll need to probably go prone to try and find it, which is probably harder due to it being night time at that point.

You can find the Otton Frog in a few areas of Dremuchij, during Operation Snake Eater.

You can find the Otton Frog in a variety of other areas, including Dremuchij North, Chyornaya Peschera Branch, Ponizovje South, Krasnogorje Tunnel, Tikhogornyj, and Zaozyorje North. You should have the Thermal Goggles after the Dremuchij North, so you should be able to more easily find this animal.

The Tree Frog is one of the first animals you can get in the game, with it becoming available as soon as you gain control after the initial cutscenes. In the very first area, Dremuchij South, you can find some Tree Frogs in the grassy patches. They can be hard to see, so you will likely have to go prone and crawl in the grass to find them. Likewise, you can find more in Dremuchij Swampland, Dremuchij North, and Dolinovodno. Once you’re in Operation Snake Eater, you can find some in Ponizovje South, Syvatogornj West, Tikhogornyj: Behind Waterfall, and Zaozyorje South/North.

The Tree Frog is pretty common throughout the game, including the Dremuchij regions.

You can first find a Poison Dart Frog in Chyornyj Prud, swimming on top of the water near the southern end.

First and foremost, as its name implies, this frog is poisonous, so don’t eat it (stamina recovery from it is low). The first area where you can find some is Chyornyj Prud, which is right after your encounter with the Ocelot combat unit in Rassvet. It seems to be close to the exit that leads to Bolshaya Past South, so check around there. You can also find more in Chyornaya Peschera Cave Entrance and Graniny Gorki South.
