There are numerous Bosses waiting for you at the end of Treasure Groves, many of which are exclusive to Treasure Groves. Strangely enough, most of these Treasure Grove exclusive Bosses are fish, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t more conventional enemies lording it over the depths of these randomly generated dungeons. Treasure Grove exclusive monsters means exclusive drops that can’t be easily found anywhere else, save for perhaps The Don. This page will cover how to find these Treasure Grove exclusive bosses - the "Lord of Death" iconLord of Death and the "Crystal Behemoth" iconCrystal Behemoth and materials like "Evil Shard" iconEvil Shards, "Giant Scale" iconGiant Scales and "Monster Crystal" iconMonster Crystals in Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time!

Page Breakdown

Some materials - like Evil Shards - can only be found as drops from boss monsters in Treasure Groves.

Evil Shards, Giant Scales and Monster Crystals - Materials and Uses

Play through the main questline and rank up areas in Ginormosia and you should naturally come into conflict with plenty of boss monsters. Between optional dungeons throughout the game and enemies that only spawn at night or during the day, you may end up with some holes in your encyclopedia, but if you plan to reach Hero rank in any combat Lives (or all of them) most of those omissions should end up being filled out - check out the page All Monster Locations for more information on the locations of every monster in the game.

A few, however, can only be found in Treasure Groves, and this wouldn’t be much of a bother if some of these exclusive monsters didn’t drop materials that can’t be easily found elsewhere. Worse still, some of these Treasure Grove exclusive boss materials are required to rank up some crafting Lives! Simply put, if you’re a completionist or if you just want to craft certain late-game gear, you’ll need to prize these materials from the monsters who possess them.

There are two Treasure Grove exclusive boss monsters - the Lord of Death and the Crystal Behemoth, and they can collectively drop three otherwise unique materials: Evil Shards, Giant Scales and Monster Crystals. These are used in the following recipes:

Treasure Grove Boss Monster Recipes

If you want to craft any of these items, you’re going to need to get your hands on these materials, which we’ll discuss below.

Plant Treasure Grove Saplings until you get a dungeon with a Treasure Grove exclusive boss monster at the end,

then defeat it to get whatever rare materials it drops.

Farming Boss Monsters in Treasure Groves

To farm Treasure Dungeons, you’ll first need to farm Treasure Grove Saplings; one "Treasure Grove Sapling" iconTreasure Grove Sapling will create one randomly generated Treasure Grove. The layout of each floor and the overall theme of the dungeon (fishing, mining, combat, etc) varies each time you plant a Treasure Grove "Sapling" iconSapling, but for the purposes of farming the Lord of Death and the Crystal Behemoth, you will want to only pay attention to the last, lowest floor - the boss floor. If it’s a monster dungeon, the boss monster at the end may just be one of the two aforementioned monsters you’re seeking. If not, replant the Treasure Grove and roll another. Needless to say, this can be a tedious process and you may end up burning through dozens of Treasure Groves before you find what you want, so it’s good to have a wide array of targets in mind - like the boss fish that can also spawn at the end of a Treasure Grove dungeon, for example.

Once one of these two Treasure Grove exclusive boss monsters spawns at the end of a dungeon, explore it, clear it and defeat the boss monster at the end to get its drops. The level (difficulty) of the dungeon doesn’t matter, so if you want to speed up farming, plant Treasure Groves at the present day (lowest difficulty). You can further expedite this process if you have friends playing the game, as if you’re both planting Treasure Groves, one of you can invite the other to their world, where you can clear a desirable Treasure Grove together. The visitor will get a "Treasure Grove Branch" iconTreasure Grove Branch that allows them to replant a copy of this dungeon in their own world - sharing with friends effectively allows you to double dip and accumulate resources faster!
