There are a number of materials you will need in Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, especially if you plan on crafting some strong armor for your character and Buddies. One of these items is the "Smoldering Fang" iconSmoldering Fangs, which is only gotten from the Pyro Panther boss. There is another similar item, gotten from "Fiery Panther" iconFiery Panthers, called "Smoldering Claws" iconSmoldering Claws. Continue reading to find out where to find both of these materials.

Page Breakdown

Fiery Panther Locations

You will find that the Fiery Panthers will drop the Smoldering Claws, an item that is needed to mostly craft the Gold set of armor. This is required in order to get the Blacksmith to Master Rank, so you’ll need a few of the claws. Thankfully, you won’t have to go too far to find the Smoldering Claws, but you will have to put in a little bit of grinding in order to get to them. The in-game "Encyclopedia" iconEncyclopedia, should you look at the Fiery Panther entry, mentions you can find the enemies at Moltana Wastes.

Fiery Panthers can be found in Moltana Wastes.

Increase the rank of the area to get more spawns and more opportunities for the Claws.

This is one of the regions in Ginormosia, on the northern end. If you’ve thoroughly explored the map, then it’s the area with all of the lava, so it’s not difficult to find. Once you’re there, you should see one or two instances of Fiery Panthers on the map, but it seems the Panthers are a little stingy with drops. If you get Moltana Wastes to Area Rank 3, then you’ll find a lot more instances of Fiery Panthers appearing there. From there, you can just kill any packs, then use the Teleportation Gate to zone in and out of Ginormosia to respawn them.

Pyro Panther Locations

The Fiery Panthers above are a normal enemy, but the Pyro Panther is a boss-type one. You’ll need some Smoldering "Fang" iconFangs to craft some high-tier equipment, so it’s always worth going after this foe. There are two instances of the Pyro Panther, both of which will be in Ginormosia. Of course, both of them will also require you to have Moltana Wastes at Area Rank 5, so it’ll be a little bit of a grind to get to it. Once you do that, the first spawn is just northeast of "Panther Preserve" iconPanther Preserve, the settlement that is just east of the tower. However, the Pyro Panther only appears at night here; it’s a "Mohawkasaurus" iconMohawkasaurus in the day.

The good news it that you can still get a Pyro Panther during the day, but you’ll have to venture to Agekara Cave. This is the larger cave that has two entrances, one being on the eastern border of Moltana Wastes, just south of the Gela’shi Shrine in Wingtip Valley. Despite the entrance technically being in Wingtip Valley, the enemies inside are affected by the Area Ranks of both Moltana and Scorchrock Mountain. As mentioned above, to get the Pyro Panther, you need Moltana at Rank 5.

(1 of 3) The Pyro Panther requires you to get Moltana Wastes to Area Rank 5.

The Pyro Panther is the only boss-type enemy inside, and it will be flanked by some Fiery Panthers (they are always there, even at Rank 1). The one inside the cave is Level 80, while the one outside is Level 90, so the one inside will be a little easier to defeat. However, both are considered bosses, so you’ll have to wait five minutes before they respawn. Going after both is ideal, since that will waste some time, although you may need to use a campfire to make it night and spawn the one outside.

Note that there is an Area Challenge that can appear in the Moltana Wastes region, called Fired Up, which will have both Fiery Panthers and a Pyro Panther. This doesn’t start until you get to the higher ranks and despite the promise of having both in a convenient spot, neither enemy seems to drop their good items. Thus, you can safely ignore this challenge if all you’re after is the Claws and Fangs.
