Invasive Khezu Guide

The sole Invasive Monster on the Serathis map - and hence the last Invasive Monster you’re likely to cross in the game - is the "Invasive Khezu" iconInvasive Khezu. While not a hard foe to defeat, as far as Invasive Monsters go, there is a fair bit of noise that can obfuscate your objectives in this fight. This page will help you cut through the distractions and help you employ against the Invasive "Khezu" iconKhezu in Monster Hunter Stories 3!

Page Breakdown

Prepare by equipping decorations that reduce your odds of being paralyzed and boost your Kinship gauge growth rate.

Climb the Lookout Point in the Glacial Caps region and loot north, northwest to spot the entrance to the Invasive Khezu’s den - you’ll need to island hop to get there!

Invasive Khezu Location and Preparation

Before you head off to confront this critter, let’s suggest some preparations. Oddly enough, there are no must-have Monsties or gear for this fight - any Monstie that can survive long enough to launch a Kinship attack will get the job done! That said, there are plenty of things you can do to increase the odds that you’ll be ready to end the fight when you get the opportunity!

First, the Invasive Khezu will largely use thunder attacks on you, so lightning resistance will come in handy. It’s also worth noting that the Invasive Khezu, unlike many Invasive Monsters, likely won’t be able to one-shot you during this fight, so springing for something like HP regen or bringing a Hunting Horn along can help keep your HP up. Invasive Khezu also likes to inflict paralysis and mitigating this should be a chief concern for the upcoming fight - Antiparalysis gems and Monsties with genes that help them resist paralysis will both prove very useful! If you want to ensure the fight ends as quickly as possible, you also want decorations and genes that boost the rate at which you gain Kinship. So in order, your priorities should be:

  • Antiparalysis
  • Kinship gain
  • Healing/regen
  • Lightning resistance

If you can get armor and Monsties that do all these things, great. If you can only do one or two, good enough. It’s also possible to win without any precautions, but things may get messy if RNG isn’t on your side!

Once that’s done, it’s time to track down this Invasive Khezu. Fast travel to the “Lookout Point: Glacial Caps” Catavan Stand, climb the tower, and from the top of said tower look north, northwest - the Invasive Khezu’s den is in a dead-end passage in the indicated direction (also east, northeast of the Glacial Caps Camp). To get there, however, you’ll need to get a flying Monstie and glide to an island to the north, northeast, then island hop (literally!) to the west and north.

(1 of 3) Get a track on top of some high ground in the middle of Invasive Khezu’s den,

You’ll find the Invasive Khezu circling some high ground, which seems to be something of a norm for Invasive Monsters. The first track you should get is atop the high ground in the center of the creature’s den, where the Invasive Khezu cannot reach you. From here, just watch the Invasive Khezu’s movements and drop down to get the second and third tracks to the east and west of the high ground when the Invasive Khezu moves out of the way. Collectively these will tell you to 1) watch out for paralysis attacks, 2) be ready to counter the Invasive Khezu’s Power attacks with Speed attacks, and 3) that eventually you’ll need to prevent the Invasive Khezu from attacking.

(1 of 4) You’ll need to endure a “Thunder Zone” attack and hope you don’t get paralyzed!

Defeating the Invasive Khezu

When you’re ready to test your mettle (and luck) against the Invasive Khezu, drop down and provoke it into a fight. Like most Invasive Monsters, there’s a fairly involved scripted segment of the fight you’ll have to get through before you can attempt to end things:

  • Invasive Khezu will start out using a Technique attack - counter with a Power attack.
  • On its second turn, Invasive Khezu should use “Thunder Zone”, a thunder-elemental attack that can strike the entire party and inflict paralysis. Just have to hope RNG is on your side here!
  • Focus on countering Invasive Khezu’s attacks and breaking its parts. Invasive Khezu’s parts are weak enough that many - if not all - will be broken by the end of turn three. Eventually Invasive Khezu will stagger, allowing you to perform a Syncho Rush attack.
  • After the Snychro Rush, Invasive Khezu will enter its “angry” phase, and switch from using Technique attacks to Power attacks. Counter these with Speed attacks.
  • Eventually you’ll be told by your companions that Invasive Khezu is using up its energy and you need to “stop its movement”. Look out for a red target arrow, as this will let you know that Invasive Khezu is going for its “Wyvernsoul Eater” attack.

The whole fight up to this point is really just a matter of surviving Invasive Khezu’s attacks and building up your Kinship gauge until you see the “stop its movement” lines a few turns into its “angry” phase. When you see the red arrow targeting somebody at this point in the battle, you need to do something to cause it to lose a turn, and the easiest way to guarantee this is by using a Kinship attack. If you have gear that boosts your Kinship gauge growth and aren’t paralyzed, this should be simple - mount your Monstie and use a Kinship attack. The fight should end after that. If you can’t for whatever reason, you don’t need to worry too much - neither “Wyvernsoul Eater” or its followup attack, “Invasive Death Voice”, deals that much damage - you’ll just have to endure until the second time you see the red arrow and interrupt it with a Kinship attack then.

Since most of Invasive Khezu’s attacks can be countered, as long as you have some form of healing or HP regen and aren’t losing too many turns to paralysis, it should only be a matter of time before you’re able to finish things!

You’ll recover a Barioth egg from Invasive Khezu’s den.

When the Invasive Khezu flees, chase it to its den and snatch a Flying Wyvern egg from its egg quartz tomb. This will hatch into a "Barioth" iconBarioth, which has one variant, the only requirement of which is getting Barioth up to Rank A. Just find a zone with two open spots and you’re good to go.
