Luring and Defeating the Exotic Seregios - Ogden's Theory
Luring and Defeating the Exotic Nibelsnarf - The Truth Unfolds
Even in faraway Tarkuan, the mysterious letters keep arriving, haunting Ogden with the uncanny knowledge of monsters their writer clearly possesses. This page will provide a walkthrough for Ogden’s third side story, The Sender’s Identity in Monster Hunter Stories 3, including tips about catching and defeating the
Exotic Legiana!
Page Breakdown¶
You’ll get another letter in Galyad, prompting a hunt for an Exotic Legiana.
To get this critter to fight, you’ll have to use a breath attack to knock it out of the sky as it flies!
Starting The Sender’s Identity¶
To start this quest you’ll need to reach Galyad. After making your way to Tarkuan, defeat the
Feral Ajarakan then take the ship to Galyad. Following some quest business there, you’ll find your companions hanging out along the eastern side of the city. Just talk to Ogden there and, assuming you’ve completed his previous two side stories you can start the third.
He’ll show you the latest letter, which contains intel on an Exotic
Legiana, and after some chatter you’ll agree to hunt the critter down. Fast travel to the “Lookout Point: Rococo Rocks” and glide southeast to a stone pillar where you’ll trigger a scene, which ends with your quarry being spotted.
How to Catch and Defeat the Exotic Legiana¶
Once the aforementioned scene ends you’ll be instructed to hunt this Exotic Legiana down, and unlike the previous two monsters we hunted in this questline, this one is pretty easy to engage. It’s simply flying around, and Ogden will outright tell you to use a Monstie with a breath attack to bring it down. Ol’ reliable
Ratha will do just fine - just watch the Exotic Legiana as it flies its route, wait for it to stop and blast it with your breath weapon. The only tricky part here is whether the Exotic Legiana stops when it’s anywhere near you, and if you’re finding that the Exotic Legiana is not cooperating, fly into the sky to get closer to it and use your breath attack while flying. Eventually you should land a hit and send the Exotic Legiana to the ground, where you’ll be able to descend and pick a fight.
The fight itself isn’t that complicated, either, considering Ogden outright tells you what to do - the Exotic Legiana is weak to fire and you need to break its wings as your first objective. It can dish out some heavy ice damage with its “Freezing Burst “ attack, but once you damage its wings you’ll likely score a Synchrorush, after which the fight should be almost over.
Completing Ogden’s third side story will earn you a variety of upgrades, including two (AMP) skills and the Pitfall Trap Recipe!
Defeat the Exotic Legiana, then watch some post-fight scene, after which the quest will end and Odgen will get some upgrades, including:
Defensive Ditty becomes Defensive Ditty (AMP)
Meteor Hammer becomes Meteor Hammer (AMP)
Pitfall Trap Recipe
