Edward’s penance tour will eventually lead him to Kingston, where he’ll be able to find the Assassin Anto pacing near the beleaguered bureau. Talking to him will start his Templar Hunt series of quests, where you can pay off your debt to the Assassins by doing busy-work for them - and Edward is a resource that Anto is only too keen to make use of! This page will provide a walkthrough for Anto’s Templar Quests in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced!

Page Breakdown

How to Start Anto’s Templar Hunt

Like most new content in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, you won’t be able to access this Templar Hunt until you complete the main quest This Old Cove, in the process claiming a hideout for Edward and his crew on Great Inagua. Even after that, you may wish to put this on pause until you’ve strengthened your ship a bit, as you’ll need to sail past Fort Navassa to reach Kingston and generally brave the more dangerous waters of the region. You’ll find Anto on the south-center of Kingston, pacing around and talking to himself.

(1 of 3) Meet a pacing outside the bureau and he’ll ask you to help rescue some slaves.

The Maroon Assassin

Talk to Anto to interrupt his self-rambling and when Edward admits fault Anto will only be too happy to put him to work - he needs you to mingle with some fellow caucasians and listen for clues as to where Anto’s friends might be.

Make your way west to the southwestern edge of Kingston to find the tavern you need to snoop around in, enter it, and to the left you’ll find two British soldiers chatting… well, one British soldier and one formerly employed soldier, as it were. Walk over to them to listen in on their conversation and when they’re done talking pick up a Notice of Dismissal off the table nearby to learn about some prisoner being delivered to a church in the center of Kingston.

Now that you have the intel you need, leave the tavern and make your way northeast to the aforementioned church. Outside, on the street, you’ll find three guards. Get close enough for them to start talking, then follow them a short ways through Kingston until they get nervous and split up, forcing you to chase down and tackle one of them. Which one doesn’t matter, and one of them ran right into us, making it a trivial matter to capture him - your mileage may vary. Once you get the information you need out of this hapless redcoat, this subquest will end.

(1 of 4) For the second quest in the questline, you’ll need to free three captives - double assassinate two pairs of guards to rescue the southwesternmost captive,

Recruiting Maroons

For the next phase of this quest, make your way southwest from the church and talk to Anto. After some haggling, Edward will follow Anto to a plantation along the western edge of Kingston, where you’ll be tasked with freeing the Maroons. This objective is virtually identical to random events where you have to rescue captive pirates from guards - kill the guards however you see fit, then free the captive and you’re good to go.

There are three such events, one right near where Anto led you, and another two to the northeast. The southwesternmost one is easy - you can just double assassinate two pairs of guards toe free the captive. For the middle target, you’ll find several guards marching their captive through the streets of Kingston. If you follow them, they’ll travel a fair distance east before stopping at a shack. There’s no real good reason to let them reach their destination, as you can probably double assassinate half the guards while they walk. Of course, there’s always the chance patrolling guards will show up and complicate matters, but that holds true no matter where you pick a fight. Finally, the northeasternmost captive is held in a fenced-in area, watched over by six guards. Dispose of them by any means you see fit.

Once all three slaves have been freed, Anto will give you the vague task of killing some officer along the northern end of Kingston. Head to the search area and look for several guards walking down the streets - the area near them will be restricted, so we recommend sticking to the rooftops (always a good strategy) and using DualSense-L2 to search for your target, who will, as usual, be indicated by a green glow. Just wait for him to pass near you and assassinate him from the rooftops - you’re under no obligation to deal with the rest of his goons, so flee or fight, as you wish.

After the officer is dead, head to the western edge of the city and talk to Anto to complete this subquest.

Under Attack

This is a direct, but weird quest. Meet up with Anto at the bureau and the bickering between Anto and Edward will be cut short when vengeful redcoats attack. The entire substance of this quest is to repel three waves of British, so if you thought there was too much sneaking in this Assassin’s Creed game, then this is a quest for you. That said, it’s a bit odd in that between Edward, Anto and the Maroons, you’ll often outnumber your foes, making it trivially easy… except for your “allies” breaking the flow of combat and getting in your way. Only the third wave is in any way interesting, as a heavy will show up along with some rifleman on the rooftops. If you need healing ,there’s some lying about in the central part of the bureau, but once you’re done fending off the British this subquest will end, with Anto promising to come up with a plan later.

Follow Anto onto the roofs and spy on an officer to learn where you templar is,

then head to the northeastern edge of the plantation and assassinate the templar.

The Commander’s Ruse

Head to the next quest marker and meet up with Anto at a market. Turns out his “plan” is just to trail a man in the templar’s inner circle and hope we get some intel. Soon after the two are done talking, the officer we need to tail will show up - follow Anto’s lead, get to the rooftops and stay close enough to snoop on the officer to learn the templar - one Kenneth Abraham - can be found at a plantation along the northeastern edge of the city.Pretty sure we could have come up with this “plan” ourselves.

Follow Anto to the aforementioned plantation where he’ll hide in tall grass. Overhear some nearby guards to get more information - our hungry, hungry templar is near some buffet tables, which is only helpful if you actually know where those are. Fortunately Edward has assassin-vision, so make your way northeast and get on rooftops, and from this lofty perch scan the area while holding down DualSense-L2 until the green glow marks your target.

Like so many other hapless enemies, Kenneth can be killed just by sticking to the rooftops and waiting for him to come within reach. Assassinate him if you can, but you can also settle for doing things loud and messy, if needs be. Killing Kenneth triggers a scene, after which you can just flee and become anonymous. Once you’ve regained your anonymity, return to Anto at the bureau and talk to him to finish this quest.
