Ambrus's Prisoners - Fate's Mercy
Blood Transports
The enemy of our enemy is our friend, as the saying goes… a truly overrated idea if ever there was one. Still, the vrakhiri are a potent enough threat to force the serfs to ally with their former oppressors in the hopes of overthrowing the current regime, even if the matter of the future political alignment remains contentious. Free the vrakhiri’s prisoners, get some benefit out of them (even if it’s only to keep the blood in their own veins) and worry about winning today’s battle. This page will cover the the quest Ambrsus’s Prisoners - Lucky Crossing in
The Blood of Dawnwalker, including information about getting sword training from Ursul the Undefeated!
Page Breakdown¶
Lucky Crossing Info¶
| Quest | Time | Reward |

Defeat the guards escorting the prisoners near the Svartrau Outskirts,
and one of your prisoners will express skepticism at your prowess.
Lucky Crossing Walkthrough¶
The Lucky Crossing prisoner escort tends to be found a fair ways south of the other prisoner escort quest, Fate’s Mercy, usually on the road near the Svartrau Bridge shrine. Locate the patrol and cut the guards down - there will usually be around three of them, which should be relatively trivial to deal with.
Once they’re dead you’ll talk with the prisoners, as usual. Do not pick the option [give in to the hunger] (which will only be available at night) and if you pick any of the other options one of the prisoners will eventually question your competence. Say whatever you want and eventually this prisoner - Ursul - will gruffly offer to teach you a thing or two about swordfighting. Time will advance by 3 TIME ticks when you’re done talking to the prisoners.
Take up his offer of swordfighting training and duel him at his camp in the woods,
and if you win, this prisoner, Ursul, will sell you skill tomes.
Train with Ursul the Undefeated¶
To advance this quest you’ll next need to head to Ursul’s camp, which is found along the northeastern edge of the Svartrau Outskirts forest. Be ready for a fight and talk to Ursul and, aside from learning he’s just as much of a parasite as the vrakhiri, you can pick the option ”Can you teach me about swordfighting?” to start a duel.
Ambrus functions as a miniboss and if you’re near the beginning of the game he’ll have an orange skull, making him a good bit more threatening than your average soldier. Still, he’s beatable, and if you do defeat him he’ll make good on his promise to teach you about swordfighting.. By selling you skill manuals. We saw the following tomes for sale:
Ursul’s Skill Tomes¶
| Tome | Cost | Number |
|---|---|---|
| 561 | 2 | |
| 558 | 1 | |
| 1,070 | 1 | |
| 281 | 1 | |
| 285 | 1 | |
| 293 | 1 | |
| 273 | 1 | |
| 563 | 1 | |
| 549 | 1 |
Will you find all of these skill manuals without Ursul? Probably. Eventually. But having him as a fallback isn’t a bad idea, in case you really want to unlock a skill without having to wait for RNG to set you up. Fighting Ursul and unlocking him as a merchant cost no extra time, and it will complete this quest, earning you an additional 250 EXP and 1x Skill Points… technically you get this reward after talking to Ursul at his camp, whether you defeat him or not.
