Although war and famine often go together, soldiers cannot endure much of the former if their bellies are empty. Every commander knows that if his men go without supper for too long, they will lose their will to fight. And every warrior is aware that in order to be prepared for combat, they need to have something to eat on them at all times. After all, a lull in a skirmish might prove to be the only opportunity to feed oneself. Still, just any kind of food won’t do. It can’t be anything that makes you too sluggish or drowsy. No – you have to choose wisely.
