An opening in the habitat’s lower hull for direct entry by divers and submersibles.

Because the habitat’s interior atmosphere is at the same pressure as the surrounding water, seawater cannot rise through the moonpool. No hatch membrane is therefore necessary, although this comes with sanitation and quarantine risks.

Moonpools are good locations for vehicle bays, high-traffic dive sites, and brief idylls such as kicking or stone-skipping. Be sure to wear your AEP suit to avoid loss of heat.

Caution: unless locked behind a bulkhead, moonpools offer free access to your habitat for intruders.
