of sustenance. Its insatiable appetite is said to have driven other
species to extinction.

Watching a Deviljho run down prey with saliva streaming from its
maw drives fear into all other creatures. The saliva is highly
acidic and expedites the digestion of hard-shelled monsters.

The Deviljho’s powerful jaw maintains a vice-like grip on prey, and
the numerous spikes are actually fully developed fangs. Teeth that
become damaged or weak are filed on the ground to encourage growth.

to its survival, as it often remains beneath the mud to keep cool
and sometimes uses it as a means of attack.

This monster bathes in mud throughout the day to protect from heat,
dryness, and parasites. The mud slowly hardens into a layered shell
that makes the Barroth into a virtual moving boulder.

Barroth meat is known to be tough as rock, but for inexplicable
reasons, its tail is considered a delicacy by some. It can be sold
as a cooking ingredient, but not for any appreciable sum.

of Barroth found in colder climates coats itself in a protective
layer of snow and ice.

Both the regular species and subspecies mainly dine on Neopteron,
but where Barroth are partial to ants, the Jade Barroth prefers
Bnahabra. Differences in habitat create these split preferences.

Regular Barroth tail may be a delicacy, but this variety’s tail
meat is naturally kept frozen for long periods of time, allowing
the flavor to mature and grow more savory.

The volatile green slime covering its head and powerful forearms
can be primed to explode by a chemical agent in its saliva.

A symbiotic slime grows on the head and forelegs of the Brachydios.
Impacts cause the ooze to change from green to yellow to red
before it explodes, scattering spores and dispatching enemies.

Although a slime mold covers this creature’s entire body, the mold
is only visible on the head and forelegs. Angering this monster
activates the mold and causes its entire body to turn yellow.

The combustible metals contained inside increase in temperature
with every swing, sharpening the tail and making it red-hot.

The friction from repeated attacks raises the tail’s temperature
until it glows red-hot. In this state, the tail becomes sharper
and drastically deadlier. Some swings even cause flames to erupt.

When its tail becomes dull, this monster uses its fangs to grind
off the rust, which is stored in the flame sac in its throat
to be heated and finally exhaled at extraordinary temperatures.

Membranes packed with capillaries and supported by cartilage grow
from this monster’s hips. These regulate temperature by absorbing
heat from sunlight when cold or expelling heat when hot.

This monster condenses heat when enraged, causing a combustible
substance to collect in a throat gland. The resulting mucus can
then be expelled from its nose to react explosively with the air.
