Grab the Underpass Key
Head through the Pharmacy and walk to the back of the building to find the Underpass Key.

Explore the Underpass
Use the Underpass Key to unlock the entrance to the Underpass. You won't be able to explore the whole area at this point in the game, but you'll gain access to an essential weapon.

Find the Checkin Key
After walking through the Underpass, you'll end up at the General Store. Inspect the bag at the back of the building to obtain the Checkin Key, giving you access to a locked desk.

Pick up the Boxcutter
You'll find the Boxcutter after exploring the General Store. You can use the Boxcutter as a melee weapon, it also cuts through Cloth Doors.

Use the Checkin Key
With the key in your inventory, head back to the Motel Office and open the desk to find a note containing the details of all the people staying at the Motel. This note contains the information you need to enter the Motel.

Enter the code
Go to the Keypad at the front of the Motel and enter the following code: 1-2-4-6-4.
